Product description

This version of About a Chair has a swivel base in powder-coated steel, which gives the chair a more formal expression, both because the wooden frame has been replaced with steel and because the delicate and elegant legs fan out from the centred base, almost standing on tiptoes and optically raising the chair off the floor.
Like the other versions, this version too is available with three upholstery options: full upholstery of the whole shell, upholstery on the front of the rounded shell or a seat cushion. All three versions allow you to vary the expression with relatively simple variations in upholstery, which of course owes a great deal to fabric textures and colours.

Concept

The About a Chair collection is the result of a long-term collaboration between HAY and designer Hee Welling. From the outset, the goal was to create a connected family of chairs based around one simple, strong idea, which still retained the individual qualities of each model. By making the frames, shells and upholstery options interchangeable, the About series provides a wealth of design possibilities as well as retaining the elemental form. This multi-functional series includes dining and conference chairs, office chairs, bar stools, lounge chairs, tables, an ottoman and a sofa. Its versatility and contemporary expression make it suitable for a wide variety of private or public environments.
