R stands for rotation. Ann Idstein released the System R at the Heimtex Fair in Frankfurt in the mid 90’s. Although a minor technical innovation, the visual impression of 250mm wide slats strikes as quite different from traditional, narrow vertical slats. The aim was to create a system with the benefits of the vertical slats, which can be slid aside and also rotated, but with a calmer visual appearance. Individuality was added by offering the possibility of attaching wood to the textile slats.

The system is suspended from an aluminium head rail, in white or anodized aluminium. It can be fitted to a wall or ceiling. The function relies on a chain that turns the slats and a cord that slides them aside. A very wide window front can be covered in one piece and still leaving just a small package when the system is fully opened.

System R – 250mm slat width
The System R has two great benefits compared to traditional Vertical Blinds and that is the variety of exciting materials available as well as the possibility of attaching wooden slats to the fabric. It can function as an excellent room divider or as a sun screening blind. The use of felt fabrics in the System R results in a room divider with clear sound absorbing qualities. Wooden slats in a wide variety of colours can be attached to the textile if desired. The placement of the wooden slats can be symmetrical or perhaps corresponding to a window frame or similar. Due to the width of the slats, the System R cannot be fitted in sloped situations.
