Product description

Afloat is an artistic lighting homage to fictional floating islands and cities. Steeped in popular culture references, floating cities have existed in fantasy epics since Homer’s Odyssey - often depicted as majestic, in technologically advanced and futuristic civilizations out of our current reach. From the comic book adventures of Flash Gordon and Dr. Zarkov on the Floating City of Sky to Studio Ghibli’s infamous Hayao Miyazaki and his animated adaptation of Jonathan Swift’s Laputa, we’ve taken inspiration from the idea of floating cities to create ‘Afloat’. Made from aluminum composite and acrylic, an array of squares and rectangles connect to build a multilevel ‘floating city’ style chandelier with a spherical LED at its central core. This contemporary and angular showpiece is multi-dimensional and would suit commercial retail and hotel applications, and even large living spaces in opulent private homes. Afloat is an architectural hanging ornament that piques the imagination, bringing a floating city indoors.
