Vario Excite

Ellipticals from Technogym

Product description

Vario is a Crosstrainer that you'll find in the gym in the area dedicated to cardio training, alongside equipment like treadmills and bikes.

It's perfect for you if you want to lose weight, burn calories without exertion, improve your coordination, prevent joint problems and move all the muscles in your body in a single training session.

It's fun to use because it offers you three different movements - step, elliptical, and "Vario" – which you can change without the need to stop the machine or take your feet off the platforms.

The platforms and levers move when and how you want, because you choose and direct the movement according to your natural pace and training goals.

Vario is for you who:

Want to lose weight
With Vario you can burn up to 200 calories in 20 minutes because with a single machine you involve all the muscles in your body: from legs to arms, from abdominals to shoulders. Physical activity is intense, but the perception of exertion is minimal because you adapt the motion of the machine to your own pace.

Want full-body training
Vario has two platforms and two interconnected lever-handles that move simultaneously. If you decide to use them together, pressing them as you wish, you'll involve the muscles of your legs in the exercise along with those of the upper half of the body.

Want to prevent or ease joint problems
The movement of Vario is similar to talking a walk, a run, or climbing stairs, but without the striking impact against the ground that is typical of road running. This way you can move and warm your joints without fatigue, preventing injury and future problems.

Want to improve coordination and rhythm
The connection between the pedals and the handles, and their simultaneous motion, allows you to involve your arms and legs in a rhythmic movement that helps the upper part of your body to synchronize with the bottom half, improving your coordination.

What is Vario like?

Different from a Crosstrainer
Compared with a traditional crosstrainer, which has only one kind of movement, Vario allows you to perform three different motions - step, elliptical, and "Vario" – which you can change without needing to pause your workout or take your feet off the platform.

Different from a treadmill or running on the road
Compared with a treadmill or running outdoors there is less impact on the knees and feet because there is no contact with the ground. What's more, treadmills have very specific rules for performing exercises, but with Vario you choose the position and the movement: you can even decide to run backward!

Designed for any height
However tall you are, you'll find your ideal stride without having to adjust it in advance because the equipment isbiomechanically designed to be suitable for all users from 140 to 210 cm and weighing up to 160 kg.

Suitable for rehabilitation
Vario has two versions, the 700 MD and 500 MD, certified by European Community law of 93/42 addressing medical devices. These two versions are suitable for use in hospitals, outpatient clinics, sports centres, and rehabilitation facilities as support for treatment and muscular rehabilitation.

With UNITY, training becomes as engaging as ever
Thanks to the UNITY digital platform, you can turn the machine you use into your personal device for the entire duration of your workout. With UNITY™ andmywellness® cloud, you can stay in touch with your world even while you train, using all the Android tools and applications as on your own tablet and with the same type of interaction. Accessing social networks and preferred Web contents, participating in your gym's challenges, managing your workout and monitoring your indoor and outdoor activities. With Unity, this and lots more are possible.

What are the three Vario movements like?
Vario is the only cardio machine with platforms that follow different trajectories. That's why you can perform three different movements, both in terms of intensity and the muscles involved:

Vertical step
As the name suggests, this is similar to the movement you make climbing and descending stairs. It's a rhythmic stride from high to low and vice versa.

Elliptical movement
In this case your legs perform a circular movement similar to a brisk walk (if you have a short stride) or a run (long stride).

"Vario" movement
Similar to an athlete's fast run, it's the type of movement that allows you to cover a stride that can extend up to 83 cm.

How can I change movement?
With Vario, you decide when and whether to change from one movement to another. You can begin with stepping, and then without stopping run faster, shifting to the elliptical, to then reach full stride, and then finish your workout with another step session.

Movement develops quickly and isn't tiresome; it even guarantees greater safety because with Vario you start, stop and manage the workout yourself, just as you would when walking on the road.

Training with Vario
After stepping up onto the machine, which is easy thanks to the low platforms, to start your workout you need only start moving the platforms or handles.

On the display you can choose from different workouts based on goals like time, calories, or distance, or if you have a mywellnesskey you can follow your own personal training program.

Full-body training
For training your legs, gluteus, abs and shoulders together, you can use the platforms and handles together, choosing between the two movements and whether you want to do step, a fast walk or full stride.

Some advice for making your workout more fun? If you're on a UNITY model you can even watch TV or listen to your music.

Training for the lower half of the body
If you want to concentrate on toning the lower part of the body, only use the platforms. In this case, you can rest your hands on the centre or side rests, and if you're using a version with UNITY you can use this time to surf the web or update your status on social websites.

Intense, natural training
Vario is a crosstrainer that you'll find in the gym in the area dedicated to cardio training, alongside equipment like treadmills and bikes.

A natural stride is 40% of your height, so the maximum width of the stride on Vario is 83 cm, designed based on a user 210 cm tall. The concept of stride is important because it allows you to choose from two kinds of exercise.

If you're 140 cm tall, the length of your stride will be 56 cm.: by selecting this stride you'll experience a natural workout, but if you're an athlete and you want to increase your physical performance, simply increase the length of your stride and you can increase the resistance in your workout.

How much and when should you use Vario?
To achieve the benefits you're looking for in your training, we suggest you apply some general recommendations from our psychological and physical wellness guide to your exercise with Vario. You can download advice for free when you sign up on our Wellness Guide page.

In general, to stay in shape through cardio training , you only need about 150 minutes a week, divided if possible into at least three sessions.
