The Slovak painter and illustrator, was one of the most important pioneers and propagandists of Slovak modern art. From 1914 to 1916 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In 1922 he enrolled at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he worked with Prof. V. H. Brunner studied. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1923 to 1927. In 1938 he took part in an exhibition of Slovak art in New York.
