Tanka Chair

from C.J.C. Concepta, Designed by Carlos Tiscar

Product description

Concept

“TANKA” is a Japanese ideogram that gives us the idea of “briefness” or simplicity of forms”. Its importance in Japanese culture is shown in art, design, gastronomy, etc. In its older meaning it can be translated as “short poem”. I think the “TANKA” chair reflects the same idea, which is even more enriched by the great number of different historical references one can see in it; it has something of the Hoffman´s designs for Thonet, the Windsor American chairs, Gaudi´s branched columns of the Sacred Family temple, and of course the “Teak Style” of the 50´s, specially the Wegner´s Ypsilon chair.
