Concept

Gabriele and Oscar Buratti portray the table for Alias with a central leg, combining the elegance of the design with sophisticated materials. The result is saen, a table with an imposing base. Its fluid, continuous and soft design sees this table turned into a slender, willowy stem, creating a powerful contrast of shapes. It resembles an upturned chalice; by moving the content and weight onto the ground, it solves the need for structural ballast and tops of different forms and materials are secured onto it.

The base of saen is made of concrete, an original material with a healthy dose of speciality. It is easy to mould, has a plain texture and is sufficiently heavy. It is resistant even with its thin sections and it has soft, tactile surface finish. Concrete symbolises modern architecture and it transpires as a fantastic yet unexpected material which lends itself to experimentation in shape and colour. The innovation in the technological solution adopted for the base mould also allows to obtain an ultra-clean surface which leaves no trace of any joins.

Designed as a dining table for home as well as for contract premises such as offices and trend-setting restaurants, saen is offered with a round Ø140 cm top, or a square top with rounded corners measuring 140x140 cm, in natural oak, white bevelled glass and concrete. The concrete base is available in 2 colours, white and a warm, light grey.

NEWS 2016
Following the success of saen, the table with a monolith cement base, the design duo Gabriele and Oscar Buratti have developed a product family which represents the natural fulfilment of this project. By redesigning the base proportions, a collection of side tables is now being presented which exploits this same base, thanks to a system of joints in different heights, to create a vast product family ideally suited to accessorizing sofas and armchairs in lounge contexts.

As for the table saen , also the side tables are characterized by an important base which in a fluid, continuous and soft design sees this table turned into a slender, willowy stem, creating a powerful contrast of shapes. It resembles an upturned chalice; by moving the content and weight onto the ground is solved the need for structural ballast where tops of different forms and materials are fixed. The base of saen is made of concrete, an original material with a strong dose of speciality.

The saen xs table base, available in three different heights (cm 50, 63 e 73), in the colours of white, grey and black, supports round Ø50, Ø60, Ø70, Ø80, Ø90 cm tops in full colour white, black, coral red and anthracite. A collection which combines the elegance of the design to the refinement of the materials.
