At this time of the year nature reveals itself in a variety of colours and the world of design seems to have adapted itself to the season, dazzling and disturbing us with the kind of forms and structures we become familiar with when we walk in the October forests.

A fresh autumn wind was also blowing this year at FIAC (Foire internationale d'art contemporain) in Paris, which makes modern and contemporary art and design accessible to the public. Gone are the days when «La Fiac» was regarded as an exhibition for the French elite. Ever since Jennifer Flay and Martin Béthenod took control Fiac has explored a range of countries and has become truly international, as we would expect in an exhibition of this size in an age of globalisation.

A further strength of FIAC 2008 is its external presence, which this year featured a performance programme in cooperation with Jeu de paume and the Louvre, as well as the sculpture, installation and outdoor project park with 17 works in the Tuileries.
