In 1937, the brothers Hans and Leo Lübke founded Gebrüder Lübke GmbH & Co. KG in Wiedenbrück – a “special factory for polished bedrooms”. “Inter” alludes to “interior” and “internationality”, while Lübke is, of course, a reference to the name of the family that owned the company at the time. Hans Lübke’s son Horst, who was managing partner from 1972, retired in 1995; his son Helmut Lübke joined the company and developed the product range in the direction of luxury modular furniture systems. In 2006 his son Leo Lübke took over, in addition to heading upholstered furniture manufacturer Cor. Leo Lübke brought the two brands closer together and joint Cor+Interlübke furniture stores were opened.

In October 2014, Interlübke announced it had been acquired by entrepreneurs Peter Rutishauser and Richard Lenz, both of whom directed Interlübke as its managing partners until 31 May 2016. Peter Rutishauser left the management team on 1 June 2016. On 27 February 2018, Axel Schramm, who is the owner and general manager of bed manufacturer Schramm Werkstätten as well as president of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM), acquired a majority stake in Interlübke. Further shares were taken over by holding company MB Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft from Osnabrück. In addition to Patrik Bernstein, who remains CEO, Axel Schramm and his son Philipp Schramm have been involved in the operation of the company ever since.
