Conscientious: a thoughtful approach to resources plays a key role at Reseda

A good ten years ago, Reseda started out with the idea of making solid wood furniture to order in its local region. Today the concept is more in demand than ever: individual designer furniture that reflects its users’ personality and is made to last. A careful and thoughtful approach to materials is one of the company’s top priorities: the wood, for instance, is only ordered in the required measurements once an order has been placed – a sustainable idea that Reseda pursues at various levels. An example: the same three designers have been shaping Reseda’s product repertoire for five years. “We’re interested in long-term collaboration with people who are on the same wavelength and can help us move forward,” says managing director Andreas Niederer of the company’s philosophy. Any piece of furniture – whether it’s a dresser, shelving unit or cabinet – can be configured at the showroom, using a specially developed programme to select the size, colour and materials. That ensures there are no unpleasant surprises, because customers can immediately see what their furniture will look like. And because there is a glass wall between the showroom and the joinery, they can even watch as the computer-animated model is transformed into the finished product. Working closely with its customers is important to Reseda: it’s not unheard of for the showroom adviser to be a joiner himself, who then makes the furniture, delivers it and puts it together at the customer’s home.

RESEDA: The company was founded in 2005 by father and son Helmut and Andreas Niederer, together with Urban Meier and other business partners. Today, a good ten years later, the young furniture producer has four showrooms in Lucerne, Zurich, Winterthur and Spreitenbach. The latter two locations also produce all the company’s furniture. Thanks to its sustainable concept, Reseda creates furniture that will last for generations.
