Futurium Berlin: BELFAKTO fits out restaurant of the new architectural icon with an 11-meter long table

It offers a glance at what tomorrow may actually be: the new Futurium, currently one of the most acclaimed locations in Berlin. The new architectural icon by Richter and Musikowski – providing a welcome combination of future lab, exhibition on the future, and a forum all rolled into one – officially opened in September and already attracted over 100,000 visitors in the very first month alone. In the restaurant people curious about the future can sit at solid wood tables by BELFAKTO.

At the center stands a gem: the award-winning TRIMUS table with an impressive length of over 11 meters – made to measure and realized in solid oak. And for the “setting” 30 special bistro tables were developed by the manufacturer based in the Eifel region.

The designers at Berlin-based Kaluza + Schmid devised this generous table to be naturally flexible in use; it boasts a modular structure and is ideal for the restaurant industry. For the call for tenders at the end of 2018 BELFAKTO developed a very distinctive five-part version which was easy to dismantle and featured a special middle section and adapted tabletop shapes, as well as being made entirely of solid oak. It came with matching simple bistro tables which could be arranged flexibly. The concept went down well and since September the BELFAKTO objects have been adorning the innovative restaurant in the Futurium operated by the Sarah Wiener Group.

The basic version of TRIMUS which received the 2019 German Design Award 2019, is an elegant dining and conference table boasting three harmonious elements – a base frame, struts and a tabletop. Triangular shapes and cross-sections lend TRIMUS its characteristic look, somehow reminiscent of a simple wallpapering table. The cross-strut not only stabilizes the table, it first and foremost makes a comfortable footrest. An angular, stylish appearance which fits in well with many different furnishing styles and interior designs. It is ideal as a large dining or conference table because, despite being quite capable of standing alone, with its pared-down design it also works well in extremely long links and special formats.

BELFAKTO tables are crafted in Bitburg using traditional techniques and largely using native woods but are also available in many more extravagant woods and can be made to order with all kinds of tabletop shapes and surfaces.
