”WWF Finland and NIKARI co-operation is a brilliant example of how a contemporary design company can represent sustainable thinking in the modern world. We at WWF Finland are happy to be part of Nikari PROJECT 2012 DESIGNS FOR NATURE and together with great designers pay attention to the important issue of protecting forests globally.”

PROJECT 2012 DESIGNS FOR NATURE
PROJECT 2012 DESIGNS FOR NATURE tells about Nikari philosophy and the Finnish wood design ideology: how we delicately manufacture exquisite quality furniture and products of the local forests’ wood in Fiskars Village. Because number 12 is the number of the year (and it is the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 year, so definitely worth celebrating) and there are 12 months in a year, we asked twelve designers or design studios to study our philosophy and give their comments to it in a form of a wooden product. We co-operate with the Finnish WWF and part of the sales price is donated to protecting rainforests and forests globally.
Project designers:
JANUARY Harri Koskinen Finland
FEBRUARY Thomas Sandell Sweden
MARCH Martí Guixé Spain
APRIL Alfredo Häberli Switzerland
MAY Simo Heikkilä Finland
JUNE Mikko Paakkanen Finland
JULY Nao Tamura Japan
AUGUST Aamu Song & Johan Olin Korea & Finland
SEPTEMBER Mikhail Barashkov Russia
