This is the only chair among those designed by Finn Juhl that has armrests above the seat body. This chair, which requires a lot of fabrication processes, is the best representation of the uniqueness of Juhls design. This chair is characterized by the unparalled compactness and elegance, and the sculptural design of the armrests is also very unique. Their beauty is the product of integration of high woodcraft skills and upholstery skills. Instead of shaving the wood like ordinary chairs, the arm rests are made by carving so that an organic form is achieved. In making this original product of Kitani, we have turned a design by Finn Juhl into traditional Japanese handicraft. Its mother-of-pearl inlay shines more fascinatingly in natural light than in artificial light, and the shine even resembles that of Japanese Makie-style gold lacquerware. The sculptural form of the arms is based on the inspiration Juhl drew from his favorite sculptors around the world, and the chair is considered one of the most excellent among his designs. However, this type of artistic line has disappeared from his design since Chair No. 53.
