In 2016, Artifort presented Perching designed by Studioilse. Perching is a family of comfortable stools for flexible use. Hand-stitched leather saddles over a simple wire frame, made for friendly companions to any occasional seated situation.
We are happy to welcome a new member to the family: the Perching barstool. The seat is 80 cm high.
‘We wanted to design a series of stools we could use in our own projects, the ones we find hard to source,’ explains Ilse Crawford, Founder of Studioilse. ‘Useful pieces that settle back into their surroundings, but can be pulled together to create casual, occasional spaces. The materiality, colours, leather and dimensions were all carefully considered to be adaptable to their environment and the changing ways that we live.’
‘The fine linear structure is important,’ adds Oscar Peña, Co-Principal of Studioilse, ‘We wanted the physical lightness and movability of the chair to be translated visually. We designed the frame with continuous lines and soft curves so the finished piece is like drawing. The supple leather compliments the organic structure and gives warmth, comfort and tactility.’

CONSTRUCTION:
The Perching family consists of four stools, a footstool (height 38 cm), a stool (height 49 cm), high stool (height 69 cm) and bar stool (seat 80 cm). The stools have a steel powder-coated frame, upholstered with a saddle leather seat tied with leather laces. Perching is available in four fixed combinations of leather seats and base colours.
