At the Paradiesli school building, movement is brought into the classroom.

The LO Edge, a connectable table and partition system in the LO Move, makes it child's play to implement the Lehrplan 21 curriculum and promotes an ergonomic working environment.

Contemporary school teaching requires students to be able to work in a variety of spatial settings. Whether teaching in plenary sessions, in communicative small groups, or in focused individual work – today's classrooms must meet all requirements. But how can students be able to switch between different working methods as quickly as possible in their classrooms? This should also be done quietly and independently, given that classrooms generally have very limited space.

The Concept

The aim was to create a new kind of working atmosphere in two model classrooms that stands out from the school's conventionally furnished rooms. Firstly, the furniture should be easy for students to move around, allowing them to create the appropriate setting for each task. Secondly, an ergonomic working style should be encouraged by encouraging more movement in class.

The Setup

The connectable LO Edge table system, with its magnetic "Click & Meet" connectors, allows for playful design freedom for the desired work surfaces. The Paradiesli school uses tables with triangular tabletops, which allow for far more diverse and interesting table configurations than rectangular or square ones. Furthermore, all tables are designed at standing height, encouraging students to work standing up whenever possible.

However, if individual students prefer to work sitting down, raised counter stools are available. This allows for simultaneous work at the tables while sitting or standing up without having to adjust the table height.

For work phases that require greater concentration, the LO Move screens, which can be connected to the tables, are suitable. The LO Move screens also provide an ideal blackboard surface for presentations or supplementary teaching materials.

To encourage more movement while sitting down, the Holmris Ray student chair was used. Its soft plastic seat shell creates ideal ergonomic conditions.

The Success

Pair and group work can be easily implemented thanks to the quick and quiet connection of the tables to create the required table configuration.

The standing tables allow the teacher to move more easily from group to group and support students at eye level.

Increased standing learning significantly reduces fatigue, increases goal-oriented learning, and promotes concentration well into the late afternoon.

Students and teachers alike enjoy working with high levels of motivation in this new, unconventional learning environment.
