Colour Wood by Karimoku New Standard
Scholten & Baijings
Graphic Accent for Interior Spaces
This polygonal table with barrel-like leg explores craft traditions and the characteristics of thinned wood. Transparent colours and graphic patterns printed on the tabletop represent contemporary design superimposed on traditional craft techniques. This series of side tables comes in four types using three different sizes; each with their own combination of colours, height and diameter.
Details that Highlight Craft Techniques
Inspired by the traditional Japanese wood joint technique yatoi-sanetsugi, the leg of this table is made of individual laths that are connected at intricate angles to form a round tapered base. Except for the all-pink table, the tables in this series come with coloured textile inlays that accentuate the barrel-like leg. Like all Karimoku New Standard items, COLOUR WOOD is finished to the highest standards. Even the underside of the tabletop has not been overlooked.
COLOUR WOOD PLAIN
COLOUR WOOD PLAIN is the essential plain version of the COLOUR WOOD tables. The COLOUR WOOD series of polygonal side and sofa tables with its distinctive barrel-like leg explore craft traditions and the characteristics of low diameter wood. They come in three sizes with different heights and diameters, in this version all plain, in slightly whitened natural chestnut wood.
COLOUR WOOD DINING
A 14 sided dining table
This dining table is a new addition to the COLOUR WOOD series of side tables and carries the same design philosophy and elaborate details. The series explores craft traditions and the characteristics of thinned wood and all pieces carry the same distinctive barrel-like leg made of small diameter oak wood joined together. The leg and the tabletop of COLOUR WOOD DINING can be easily dismounted for transportation. The 14-sided tabletop is large enough to comfortably seat 4-6 persons around the table.
Overlay of Translucent Layers
COLOUR WOOD DINING comes in two versions: The essential plain version in self-colored slightly whitened wood and the transparent light grey version with the characteristic printed dot pattern. The transparent colors and graphic dot pattern printed on the tabletop represent contemporary design superimposed on traditional craft techniques. The large size of the dots makes the pattern interact with the objects placed on the table and in that way influence the final table arrangement.
