Hitting the spot: REGENT LIGHTING

The home office concept may not be new, but the corona crisis has rapidly accelerated the process of rethinking old working models in favour of more flexible forms, as, from one day to the next, a large proportion of us found ourselves suddenly working from home. Employers and employees have not only learned to adapt quickly to this new situation, they have also recognised what things can be done well remotely, as well as the benefits that a physical office provides.

It is likely in the future, that many people will want to maintain this newly won flexibility with regard to work organisation, and will increasingly work from home even after the crisis has passed. The office as an important place for meeting and exchange will, of course, continue to exist, albeit in a different form. It should not be understood as something static, but rather as a place that can react in an uncomplicated way to structural, social as well as technical changes.

For both the office and the home office, flexible furniture and lighting systems are therefore increasingly required, ones that can adapt to these new conditions in an uncomplicated manner and are versatile in their use. Anyone who has had to spontaneously convert their living or dining room into an office over the last few months due to the current circumstances will certainly have noticed quickly what the absence of an ergonomic office chair or good workplace lighting, for example, means. Furniture is relatively easy to organise, but what about lighting?

Swiss company Regent Lighting launched a luminaire in 2017 that offers the perfect solution to this issue. STREAM is a ceiling light that works without ceiling mounting and can, therefore, be used with maximum flexibility – in the office as well as at home. Regent has added two new features to STREAM, Tunable White Technology and matching acoustic panels, making it even more versatile than before.

No technical knowledge is required; once unpacked and plugged in, the uplight is ready to use and provides optimum illumination of the workplace with high-quality light. It can be easily set up and adjusted as required or desired. This makes STREAM suitable not only for contemporary, changing offices, but also for use at home.

The luminaire functions as a dimmable uplight that reflects light across the ceiling. The result is pleasant, indirect lighting that meets all necessary standard requirements for office suitability. In combination with the newly offered acoustic panels in various formats, STREAM can also be used for irregular ceilings. In addition to the lighting atmosphere, this also improves sound absorption in the room.

STREAM is available in three versions: as a handy table lamp or as a floor version in two different heights. You can also choose between white and black variations. The simple, cylindrical design fits into every working environment, from the classic office to open space areas and home offices. At home, the luminaire not only looks good on the desk, but also blends in well with living spaces. Here too, STREAM bathes the rooms in pleasant light, creating a special atmosphere.

STREAM is now also available in a new Tunable White version, which offers infinitely variable switching between warm and cool white light. With this option, the colour temperature is based on the course of daylight and can be adjusted to individual requirements. It has been proven that this interior lighting technology has a demonstrably positive effect on well-being and plays an important role, particularly in the workplace.

The past months have shown that special times require special solutions. Our working world will continue to change in the future and will have to react flexibly to upheavals and innovations. Architects, designers and manufacturers are therefore required to develop creative ideas and suitable tools to make this possible. STREAM adapts perfectly to this new mobile thinking and offers the right companion to every work situation.
