'At our core, we’re carpenters – we always have been and always will be. Not ordinary ones, perhaps. But carpenters – with a penchant for the extraordinary.' In just a few words, this statement captures what strasserthun is and what the company from Thun stands for, both today and in the future. For over 70 years, the third-generation family company has been championing craftsmanship with care and passion. If you look behind the scenes at strasserthun, the wood shavings are still flying around, so to speak, and you sense how important people are here – people with skilled hands and creativity.

All the same, the team certainly has no intention of getting stuck in tradition. Armed with a generous helping of pioneering spirit, the Thun-based firm has been in constant search of new ways from the very beginning: 'A keen instinct for material innovations and process technologies is in our blood,' says Marcel Schwander, the CEO in charge of guiding the carpentry company’s fortunes, with understandable pride. 'We rely on cutting-edge technology like laser sublimation, for instance, which is a gentle, filigree, fast and clean method for finishing solid wood, veneer or many other organic materials.'

Living tradition and guiding passions: strasserthun has been dedicated to perfectly crafted, top-quality carpentry since 1947 and combines craftsmanship with state-of-the-art processing technologies

The laser technology 'Sublidot by strasserthun' enables the Swiss carpentry firm to advance into a new dimension. Individual digital patterns and photos are transferred to the surface of a material to create an effect as precise as it is beautiful. As a result, meticulous edges are possible even on complex objects with an uneven shape and size. Consequently, there are no limits to creative freedom and individuality when it comes to designing furniture fronts for the kitchen, bathroom or other areas of the home. Other items of furniture, as well as wall or ceiling coverings, can also be implemented according to customers’ individual requirements.

Whenever uniqueness and originality are called for, strasserthun is the perfect partner: 'Thanks to our competencies, we’re able to collaborate with architects and interior designers to create bespoke products. We’re carpenters who produce one-of-a-kind solutions. Our two showrooms, ‘punkt6’ in Thun and ‘punkt58’ in Zurich, are places where creative stories originate and materials can be experienced with all the senses. Our guiding forces are our respect for the environment and for people, the quality in everything we do for our customers, and our joy in our day-to-day work as carpenters.'
