Nothing is impossible: a floor lamp for the Basler Kantonalbank
When the architect Mauro Colazzo was looking for a round pendant light for his "Basler Kantonalbank New Work" project, he thought of the BIG CIRCLE RING 2.0 ® from perdix, which he had previously noticed in a different context.

In addition to the captivating design of the BIG CIRCLE RING 2.0®, which fits perfectly with the architecture, there was something else that was decisive for Mauro Colazzo when choosing the right partner: «I am convinced that new and younger companies should also be involved. This is the only way to create quality,” says the architect. Since perdix was also able to assert itself against the competition in terms of product requirements and costs, the company was awarded the contract.

To illuminate some of the low rooms, Mauro Colazzo also looked for floor lamps. It was obvious to look for a solution with perdix. Ms. Perdix loves the challenge of realizing very individual customer requests and designed the new floor lamp.

In Pascal Häberli from Lichtwerkstatt, she found a passionate lighting professional who turned her design into reality. The qualified electrician decided three years ago to build lights himself. "To combine materials with a strong character such as wood and metal with light and to create a sustainable product was and is my big goal," says Pascal Häberli, describing the idea behind his craft. This is exactly what perdix needed for the development and realization of the floor lamps: someone who could combine the BIG CIRCLE RING 2.0 ® with wood.

Together they rose to the challenge. Which type of wood should be used, round rods or slats, varnished, oiled or stained? Which type of connection cable is the right one? How should the light be switched? "We made various sketches and used broomsticks to try to get a feeling of how the construction works and how it could be implemented," says Pascal Häberli.

Achieving stability while at the same time creating a light that appears light was particularly challenging. Because when the intersection of the x-shaped bars was moved, the entire impression changed.

The path led from the shaky first prototype with legs that were too long and thin to a standing lamp with stable round rods made of oak, in which a cable duct elegantly hides the connection cables. And that's how the lights stand and shine in the Basler Kantonalbank today.

Pascal Häberli is happy about the inspiring cooperation with perdix and the great result. «Georgia, Patrick and their team drive the company and their products forward with passion, quality thinking and sustainability. And that's exactly why I would immediately implement a project like this with perdix again, because the values are just as important to me as they are."
