A former police station forms the historical framework for the new DEPOT flagship store, showroom and point-of-sale all in one. The address is only one example of 200 branches in Germany, Switzerland and Austria at present. It shows how the consistent corporate design of the umbrella brand is filled with homely, cosy life. At every location anew, whether in Winterthur or in Hamburg. The store concept of the Hanseatic city was awarded the distinction of “Store of the Year” in the “Living” category by the Retail Trading Association. Ansorg worked out, together with the architects’ office Schwitzke & Partner, an intelligent lighting concept that relies on strong accents and economical power consumption.
One constant in all of the stores is Lightstripe Endless, a ducting system permitting pinpoint illumination of almost all the areas. With its modules it is capable of being adjusted to changing situations in sales. The selection of the optimum position of the lighting head is made on site; it is positioned by simple clicking on the right spot. The lighting fits and matches. At the same time, Lightstripe works as a visual guideline in the room, it accompanies walking routes and angles of vision, establishes axes of vision.
In the Lightstripe system, besides the gimbal-mounted Cardo lighting heads, at least one further Brick spotlight is assigned to each merchandise counter. This is ideally suited to the high-level decorative elements and bathes them in sales-promoting light. Special attention is given to the peripheral areas. The homogeneously illuminated shelves are clearly emphasized by the spotlights in the upper area of the field of vision. Wherever no mounting of Lightstripe is possible for interior design reasons, surface-mounted spotlights are used for systematic enlivenment of rear walls.
