With the new NOMAD Bakery in Chemnitz, a space has been created that brings the traditional bakery craftsmanship to life in a contemporary way. The central element of the concept is the transparent bakery, which creates a direct relationship between the craftsmanship and the customer. Large-scale views into the production area make the baking processes visible, the bakers appear as protagonists and the smell of freshly baked bread infuses the sales area.
Materials and colors play a key role in the design. The sales counter is made of regional granite and forms a solid anchor point in the room. The floor made of traditional cement tiles creates an exciting contrast with its graphic black and white pattern and guides the view through the room. The wall shelf, made of warm oak, blends harmoniously into the room in an arched design and highlights the diverse range of bread.
A light blue platform and bar stools by the generous window fronts invite you to pause for a while. A special highlight is a historic bread mixer, which is presented in bright red after extensive restoration - an iconic symbol of the combination of tradition and contemporary
design.
The interplay of transparency, material contrasts and targeted color accents has created a bakery that not only wants to sell, but also to tell a story: about craftsmanship, regionality and the art of baking bread.
