Lighting That Creates a Sense of Security – CYLS EYE in the Modern Nursing Home of Yverdon-les-Bains

In a nursing home, functionality alone is not enough – the goal is to create an atmosphere that exudes warmth, tranquility, and a sense of security. This delicate balance between technical perfection and emotional well-being has been masterfully achieved in the modern nursing home of Yverdon-les-Bains, designed by Omar Trinca Architekten. Set within an architectural environment of concrete, wood, and terrazzo, the CYLS EYE fabric lampshades by Filumen integrate seamlessly into the carefully curated design concept.

For the two building complexes, the CYLS EYE luminaire was used in a closed version as both a ceiling and pendant light – available in six graduated diameters ranging from 300 mm to 1100 mm. The lampshade colors were deliberately chosen to be subtle: a warm beige for Building 1 and an elegant stone grey for Building 2. These refined Chintz tones emphasize the calm, homely atmosphere and add soft accents to the spaces.

This lighting solution is not only aesthetically pleasing but also technically advanced: all 368 luminaires are equipped with high-efficiency DC LED boards with a color temperature of 3000 Kelvin and are DALI dimmable. They are distributed across all areas – from the inviting foyer and dining hall to the private nursing rooms – ensuring optimal lighting quality in every space.

With this project, Omar Trinca Architekten and Filumen have successfully integrated light not just as a functional element, but as an essential part of an architectural concept that places people at its heart.
