KAAN Architecten

KAAN Architecten est une agence d’architecture basée à Rotterdam, São Paulo et Paris exerçant dans un contexte international, associant pratique et enseignement, dans le domaine de l’architecture, de l’urbanisme et de la recherche sur l’environnement construit. Dirigée par Kees Kaan, Vincent Panhuysen et Dikkie Scipio, l’agence est composée d’une équipe internationale d’architectes, paysagistes, urbanistes, ingénieurs, dessinateurs et graphistes.

KAAN Architecten croit fondamentalement en l’interaction entre projets et disciplines, et en fait un outil essentiel qui favorise le débat critique au sein de l’agence. Au fil du temps, l’agence s’inscrit ainsi dans une constante remise en question des idées et un partage constructif et évolutif des connaissances avec les différents acteurs des projets

Depuis l’ouverture de l’agence, KAAN Architecten a mené une grande variété de projets aussi bien dans le secteur public que dans le secteur privé, avec des équipes de plus en plus multidisciplinaires et dynamiques.

S’inscrivant dans un contexte professionnel en perpétuel changement, l’agence réussit à construire une véritable culture propre, en évolution constante. Elle forge des relations solides et durables avec ses maîtres d’ouvrage, collaborateurs, et partenaires.

Les projets de l’agence transcendent la notion traditionnelle d’échelle et de typologie, allant de l’architecture d’intérieur aux projets de développement urbain, ainsi que des espaces de bureaux et de commerces, aux bâtiments culturels, institutionnels, hospitaliers et d’enseignements. KAAN Architecten travaille également sur des projets de réhabilitation et de rénovation.

Le bureau a dernièrement ouvert deux nouvelles agences à São Paulo (2015) et à Paris (2019). En collaboration étroite avec Rotterdam, les deux antennes internationales sont dirigées respectivement par Renata Gilio et Marylène Gallon, et ont pour objectif d’assurer un lien de proximité avec les territoires, les maîtres d’ouvrages et les partenaires.

Kees Kaan

De 1987 à 2013, Kees Kaan était associé et fondateur de Claus en Kaan Architecten. Kees Kaan obtient son diplôme d’architecte à l’Université de Technologie de Delft ( TU Delft ) en 1987. Depuis 2006, il est professeur d’architecture à TU Delft et initiateur du studio « Complex Projects », lancé en 2012, s’intéressant aux projets de très grande échelle, caractéristiques de la rapide urbanisation mondiale. En 2019, Kees Kaan est nommé président du département d’architecture de l’université. De plus, il est également chercheur à l’Institut d’Amsterdam des solutions métropolitaines avancées (AMS) depuis 2016. Kees Kaan participe à de nombreuses conférences internationales et à plusieurs jurys et groupes de recherche, tant aux Pays-Bas qu’à l’étranger. Plusieurs livres et expositions sont consacrés à son travail.

Vincent Panhuysen

Vincent Panhuysen rejoint Claus en Kaan Architecten en 1997 et devient associé en 2002. En 2014, il fonde KAAN Architecten avec Kees Kaan et Dikkie Scipio. Vincent Panhuysen commence sa formation à l’Ecole Technique d’Amsterdam avec une spécialisation dans l’ébanisterie et la réalisation des meubles. Il poursuit ses études à l’École d’Art d’Utrecht et à l’Académie d’Architecture de Rotterdam. Cette formation unique permet à Vincent Panhuysen d’assurer un contrôle complet sur l’ensemble du processus de construction.

Dikkie Scipio

Dikkie Scipio rejoint Claus en Kaan Architecten en 1995 et devient associée en 2002. En 2014, elle fonde KAAN Architecten avec Kees Kaan et Vincent Panhuysen. Dikkie Scipio à étudié les arts appliqués et l’architecture d’intérieur à l’Ecole Royale d’Art de La Haye. Elle poursuit ensuite ses études d’architecture à l’Académie d’Architecture de Rotterdam. La formation de Dikkie Scipio lui permet de diriger des projets de la grande échelle à des projets d’architecture d’intérieur, du concept (de l’esquisse) à l’exécution. Dikkie Scipio est nommée en 2019 Professeur de Design Architecturale au Münster University of Applied Sciences.
