The horizontal ring on the outside of the cups prevents cups from becoming stuck to each other, enabling safe, endless stacking. The ring provides extra grip and a heat-proof grip point when the cup is held from this edge. A formal intervention evokes functionality, resulting in a useful and iconic product.
