Stefan Steenkist

Stefan Steenkist graduated cum laude in 1994 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven. In that same year, the work he had done for his exams attracted attention during an exhibition at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam and the International Furniture Fair in Milan. The armchair 6290F that Steenkist designed for Gelderland was nominated for the Dutch Style Prize in 1998. Stefan Steenkist designs furniture with personality. He believes that furniture should not only be beautiful, functional, comfortable and of high quality, but that it should also express emotion. “This type of ‘human contact’ makes my designs unique and independent”, says Stefan Steenkist.
