Flexible Room-in-Room Systems for a Modern Working Environment: Veolia EDGE HafenCity

Hamburg, 2024

Project by

Lindner Group
In the heart of Hamburg’s HafenCity, a modern working environment has been created with the new headquarters of Veolia Umweltservice GmbH, combining openness, structure, and sustainability. Instead of traditional office structures, the new Veolia headquarters features open, light-filled work-life spaces over approximately 5,700 m² and three floors, with short communication paths.

Flexible room solutions with CAS Rooms

For the implementation of this flexible working landscape, the Lindner CAS Rooms room-in-room system was used – a modular, adaptable system that enables individual solutions for focused work, meeting rooms, or open-plan workspaces. Thanks to the modular system, the room elements can be flexibly adapted, rebuilt, or relocated, and the three-dimensional acoustic effectiveness ensures optimal sound absorption.

Multifunctional, modular, mobile

In addition to the classic CAS Rooms, which serve as meeting rooms and telephone booths, open CAS Rooms Flow elements were used – delicate trusses with integrated LED strips that visually structure areas without impairing the open character of the space.
With optional textile curtains, flexible meeting zones and retreat areas can be created as needed, providing acoustic separation. In addition, various seating niches were developed from the CAS Rooms Flow system, enabling alternative use of office space. The interplay of functionality, lightness, and design makes CAS Rooms the ideal solution for flexible working landscapes.
The project also impresses in terms of design with subtle contrasts: the concept is based on a simple environment with clear lines and exposed concrete walls, enhanced with targeted colour accents. The customised production of the modules in specific RAL colours, as well as coordinated textiles lend the spaces a distinctive character. The materials were consciously selected to create a harmonious interplay of material, light, and colour.

Sustainability through circularity

A central concern of Veolia Umweltservice GmbH was a sustainable and future-proof fit-out concept. The modular CAS Rooms system meets this requirement through its circular construction: all components are durable, demountable, and can be refreshed at any time with new surface materials or adjustments – without material loss and entirely in line with a circular design approach.
The Veolia EDGE HafenCity project impressively demonstrates what modern office worlds can look like: flexible, aesthetic, and sustainable. With CAS Rooms, the Lindner Group creates space solutions that grow with the demands of the times and help shape the future of work.
