Electra Metropolis was certified with LEED v3 for New Construction & Major Renovation, thus becoming the first LEED Hotel in Greece. The 13,000 m2 project included the major renovation and conservation of the existing previous office building in the centre of Athens. The project team employed a variety of strategies to reduce energy and water use, create a healthy indoor environment, rationalize resource demand and implement innovative strategies. Electra Metropolis is a landmark project and a pioneer in the LEED for the Hospitality sector in a country with a very intensive hospitality sector.
