KEVIN PATRICK MCCARTHY worked in the fashion industry for 20 years but moonlighting in dumpster diving has served him equally as well: the birth of his string lampshade series can be traced to an afternoon in 2003 when he found a string drum shade cast aside on a NY sidewalk. She became his muse. KEVIN PATRICK MCCARTHY light & shade melds the carefully homespun qualities of mid-century string shades with a modern palette of shapes, colors and unique materials.

His lamps have appeared in restaurants, boutique hotels, residences, retail stores and on reality shows.
