Schmitt Design is a Californiabased design studio, founded by Brian Schmitt in 2005, producing modern lighting, home décor, and sitespecific installations.

The company’s lighting collection features modern forms, cast in translucent porcelain and stoneware, and available in a variety of finish and glaze options.

The designs combine modern lines with an interplay of geometric and organic curvilinearforms, fabricated from wood, bamboo, metal, ceramic, and glass. The work is produced in their studio in downtown Sacramento and in partnership with skilled craftspeople in the region. Schmitt excels at combining highand lowtech craft, with the precision of digital fabrication methods in concert with skilled handwork and finishing.

Schmitt also creates sitespecific work with a focus on sculptural lighting and largescale mobiles. Schmitt’s lighting and sitespecific work have been installed in community colleges, health care and apartment buildings, offices, boutiques, restaurants, and residences across the United States and abroad.

Schmitt Design has been recognized by the press and notable design blogs. In 2012, the translucent porcelain Aspect Pendants earned the Dwell on Design Award for Best Lighting.
