SR-01 Arm Chair

Chairs from Kitani, Designed by Sigurd Resell

Product description

This armchair was made and released by Niels Vodder Studio in 1958. The wooden frame has an impressive organic design, with lines extending from the legs connected like leaves and branches. Particularly unique is the flowing line from the back to the elbow parts, which can never be created by machines but by careful manual shaving by craftsmen. The excellent shape of this chair is formed by the minimum number of parts, namely the left and right armrests and the back board. It is even compared with "The Chair", one of the representative works of the most famous Danish furniture.

Size: W 635 x D 560 x H 735 mm (Seat Height: 460 mm | Arm Height: 680 mm)
Frame: Black Walnut / Cherry
Seat: Leather / Fabric

Concept

Sigurd Resell(1920-2010)

Resell,a Norway-born designer, started his career when a drawing for a competition was praised by Niels Vodder, a master furniture maker who created many fine works together with Finn Juhl. Later, a prototype was made from the drawing. In 1958, his SR 600 won an award at Copenhagen Cabinetmaker's Guild Exhibitions for craftsmen in Denmark.

One of Resell’s representative works, FALCON Chair, sold as a product of VATNE, a Norwegian furniture manufacturer, has been a long-selling item in Europe for over 30 years.
