Cava 3 and Polo 2 are upholstery fabrics, ideal for both domestic and public areas, designed by Anne Gry. Offering a suite of new colours, they are an extension of her existing collection for Kvadrat. Cava and Polo share the same simple and hard wearing combed yarn fabric. Both are piece dyed with and come in wide variety of intense colours, with a palette dominated by deep reds and blues. Anne Gry creates these vivid colours by using concentrated dye and never adding any black. Anne Gry discovered and developed the colours by dying and printing on silk. She uses this method when working with clothing and soft furnishings. Silks present the colours with a special intensity and depth, making it straightforward to apply them to other fabrics such as wool.
Anne Gry often finds inspiration when travelling: Italy and North Africa are her preferred destinations. However, recently, she has focused on the softer, paler colours and patterns of Scandinavia. This is reflected in her choice of colours, which are soft and saturated, without ever being overpowering. Anne Gry’s simple, stylish designs have long been an important part of Kvadrat’s collection.
Polo is made of the same durable comb yarn fabric as Cava (see above) but is produced using a plain weave, which gives it a plain surface. It is now available in 35 rich colours.
