Daily Needs by CASSECROUTE
Cityfarming is booming
Daily Needs is a modular program for gardening and keeping small livestock. A project with social, ecological and economic relevance. Tools for growing vegetables, for storing garden equipment, and for keeping chickens which are ideal waste processors and lay fresh eggs every day, etc.
The aesthetic forms of Daily Needs refer to the archetypal house shape. The product is made of Thermowood, thermally treated pinewood from European forests. This wood has a natural appearance, it greys slowly with a beautiful patina. Concrete form plywood is used to provide the structural substrate. The material allows the product to be installed in any natural environment such as city gardens, terraces, public places, but also retirement or nursing homes.
The project was generated in the DoDesign innovation path, in co-operation with the MAD faculty (Khlim/ PXL), Cultuurplatform Design (Province of Limburg), IDE, Leuven-MRC and REcentre. With support of the City of Genk and the Flemish Government.
Daily Needs won the Ovam EcoDesign Award 2013 and was selected for the design triennial ‘Conflict & Design’.
