Cassina presents Authentic Materials: 3 new projects and 4 re-editions of works designed by Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Gerrit T. Rietveld, now available in the Cassina I Maestri Collection. The heart of the research lies in the natural beauty of materials such as wood and marble. The four architects bring together an aesthetics of touch, warmth and the sensory appeal of surfaces and thicknesses, with very different but always deeply authentic and expressive results.
Cassina enters the homes of the great architects and reinterprets their private furnishings.
Cassina probes the hidden sides of the architects’ work in an always more profound cultural assignment, in collaboration with the Le Corbusier Foundation and the heirs of Perriand and Rietveld. Several of these furnishings are historical pieces, exclusively released worldwide by the company for the first time, which the architects designed for themselves, their own homes, their studios or as personal study and experimentation. Cassina’s work thus becomes a language of emotions where every piece is a distillation of the intimate and personal desires of the author, and in the attention to the plasticity and beauty of materials, a design much closer to man emerges.
Complex work combining fine woodworking and industry.
Each item of furniture, often a single piece in its original historical version, required an intense structural study before being created on an industrial scale.
This complex process is based on identifying a specific and consistent combination of advanced technologies and craftsmanship each time. Its fundamental base is the culture of materials that Cassina shares deeply with Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Gerrit T. Rietveld.
Woodworking, focused on high-quality craftsmanship, is the historical heritage of Cassina, along with the ability to work with leather, metal, marble and fabric upholstery. It is this flexibility that has allowed the company to enhance the intrinsic appeal of each material, in keeping with the true intentions of the four architects.
