Embracing many twentieth century styles, Perriand collaborated with notable artists and designers of the period in addition to working on important solo projects. Her personal philosophy is evident in her designs. Perriand designed furniture and interiors to create a more peaceful and enriched daily living environment. Increasingly interested in politics and the democratization of furniture design, Perriand turned to wood furniture in a deliberate attempt to curb the bourgeois aspects of designs she produced with Le Corbusier and Jeanneret in the 1920s. One of her first pine designs was a handcrafted chair shown at the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) section at the 1935 Brussels World's Fair.
Pierre Jeanneret and Georges Blanchon collaborated to produce this collection of wooden furniture under the company name L'Equipement de la Maison. The furniture was designed by Perriand in collaboration with Jeanneret.
