Carlos Ferrater, Arquitecto ETSAB
Qualified as architect at the Escuela de Arquitectura de Barcelona (ETSAB) in January 1971, and gained his doctorate in April 1987.
Professor of Architectural Project Design at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and holder of the Cátedra Blanca of Barcelona Conferred Honoris causa Doctor by the University of Trieste, Italy.
Member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi.
Founding Partner Architect of OAB (Office of Architecture in Barcelona) together with Xavier Martí, Lucía Ferrater and Borja Ferrater in 2006.
Since 2000 he has received four FAD Prizes, two Ciutat de Barcelona Prizes 1999 and 2008(for the Botanical Park and the MediaPro Building, both in Barcelona) and also the Brunel International Award in Denmark. He was also a Mies van der Rohe Award finalist and has also been distinguished with the City of Madrid Award, the Spanish National Architecture Award, the Dedalo Minosse Award, Basilica Palladiana, Vicenza and the Decada Award. He was also a guest at the 2004 Venice Biennale International Pavilion and the Spanish Pavilion, at the New York MOMA with the exhibition “On-site: New Architecture in Spain” in 2006. There was also an exhibition exclusively deducated to his works in the Crown Hall, at the IIT, (Illinois Institute of Technology), in Chicago in Septembre 2006, in the Technological Institut of Israel, in the Col•legi Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC) and the “Fundación del Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid”.
He is the author of buildings in the Olympic Village of Barcelona, the Olympic Village in Vall d’Hebron (Barcelona), the Hotel Juan Carlos I, the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, the Auditorium of Castellón, the Botanical Institut and Park, the Real Club de Golf el Prat, buildings in Paseo de Gracia, Intermodal Rail Station in Zaragoza, the MediaPro building, Aquileia Tower in Venice and Parque de las Ciencias de Granada. At present he is working in the Centre Culturel des Jacobins in Le Mans, a Wineri in Toro, Zamora, a building of apartaments and a Hospital in Bilbao, the Sea Promenade in Benidorm, The “Ciutat de la Música” in Sabadell, Barcelona, the intermodal and multimodal buildings in the Barcelona Airport, the Murcia Airport, a landscape intervention in Atapuerca, the headquarters of GISA and FGC in Barcelona, the Worl Trade Center Tower in Cornellà, Barcelona and a complex of office buildings in Paris.
Xavier Martí Galí, Arquitecto ETSAB
Awarded title of architect in 1995 by the ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona’ (ETSAB) and incorporated in 2003 as an Associate Architect, Carlos Ferrater Studio and Founding Partner of OAB in 2006. Among other projects, Xavier has co-authored, with Carlos Ferrater The Waterfront on Sunset Beach in Benidorm,
Spain. In Barcelona: the Media Campus office building on Avenida Diagonal, the proposal for an apartment building on Paseo de Gracia, as well as a the World Trade Center shopping center and hotel tower in Cornellá. Nowadays he is in charge of divers housing projects in Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao.
In 2008 he received the Ciutat de Barcelona prize as co-author for the Mediapro Building at the Audiovisual Campus 22@.
Lucía Ferrater, Arquitecto ETSAB
Awarded title of architect in 1997 by the ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona’ (ETSAB) and incorporated in 1998 as Associate Architect, Carlos Ferrater Studio and Founding Partner of OAB in 2006. Finalist in the FAD Architecture Prize 2000 for her design of an apartment building in San Cugat del Vallés.
Athor of the rehabilitation of the House-Studio Coderch de Sentmenat in Barcelona and Co-author with Carlos Ferrater of the Baptist Church in Terrassa and the Housing Buildings in Barcelona. Her Barcelona Social Services Center was exhibited at the MOMA’s “On-site: New Architecture in Spain” exhibit.
She is working in different projects like two single-houses in Barcelona, the new Showroom of Roca Enterprise in Barcelona and a Hotel in Sitges. Nowadays she is professor of studio class in the School of Architecture at the University International of Catalonia.
Between 1994-1997 he conducted studies in biology at Temple University (Philadelphia, PA, USA) and at the University of Navarra (Spain). He is a licensed architect, graduating with honors in September 2005 from the International University of Catalonia
(UIC). Project Skyscraper in Athens, Greece. Visiting Student at Sciarc, Los Angeles, USA. He is author of the book “Synchronizing Geometry” published by ACTAR and which has been exhibited at the Crown Hall of the IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology). Lucia Ferrater in January 2006. He is FAD (Spain’s national award) prize winner in the category of “ephemeral architecture” together with Carlos Ferrater for the exhibition in Madrid: “M.C. Escher El arte de lo impossible”.
