17.000 sq.mt. exhibiting space, 130.000 visitors and 2.270 registered journalists only in 2016, theme projects, museum-like installations, national pavilions, independent or collective exhibitions, large consolidated companies but also young innovative ones, start-ups, self-design, young independent creatives. All of this at SUPERSTUDIO, the iconic place for design in Milan, pioneer of the phenomenon of FuoriSalone in the neighbourhood, the most visited and renowned place in Tortona district since 2000.

THE TEMPORARY MUSEUM, SPECTACULAR INSTALLATIONS THAT HIGHLIGHT THE PRODUCT

• For its 70th anniversary, LG brings a great futuristic artwork designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, artist and designer hosted in the main permanent collections of MoMa, Centre Pompidou, Victoria and Albert Museum and other prestigious museums. Art and technology combine together up to create a futuristic dimension that confuses and goes beyond human senses.

• The incredible Japanese glasses of AGC Asahi Glass will emotion visitors proposing “Touch”, a “feel of glass” created with a highly expressive material, in collaboration with Jin Kuramoto and praised Raw-Edges studio in London.

TIME TO COLOR! SHAPES AND COLORS 2017

• Yokohama Makers Village presents the latest collection “Flower/Metal” with tableaux of flower vases of design in perfect Japanese style.

• Sunbrella, leader in high performance fabric for outdoor, shows the latest colourful proposals and a mega installation that will welcome visitors at the main pavilion’s entrance of Superstudio designed by the acclaimed French artist and photographer Charles Pétillon.

• Slide presents an installation “Color Pop”, a scenery with new products where colour is the protagonist, curated by Roberto Paoli. Also the common areas furniture, from the outdoor "zampironi", to benches, bookcases and more are their creations.

• Radici Contract renew their collection with special effect colours, such as the extraordinary and immense rainbow rug, especially Designed by Carolina Nisivoccia for Superdesign 2017.

• Dresswall, a highly advanced architectural system that allows to create luminous and light communication elements, with no limits and endless possibilities of customization.

FOOD AND DRINK DESIGN

• PepsiCo presents the spectacular project Mix It Up 2017 with Mathieu Lehanneur, Luca Nichetto, Fabio Novembre, Chef Davide Oldani, Studio Job, Patricia Urquiola and many more, an exploration among past, present and future, of how food and drinks are experienced in our hyper-connected society.

• At cocktail hour, a champagne glass by Prosecco Valdo that presents the new Valdo Rosè Floral edition 2017, illustrated by Fabrizio Sclavi.

UNIVERISITIES THAT DESIGN THE FUTURE OF A BETTER LIVING

• A whole pavilion is dedicated to POLISH DESIGN, “Tomorrow is today”, the first collective exhibition offering a glance of the future of Polish design thanks to the participation of 8 State-funded Universities from every part of Poland with their design departments. The project is curated by Dorota Koziara.

• Keio, prestigious Japanese university continues a significant research on requirements and needs of everyday practical life with advanced technical solutions presented in an interactive exhibition curated by Manabu Tago.

NEW MATERIALS, IT ALL STARTS FROM THERE

• Materials Village presents the best of innovation for materials by Material ConneXion, a more captivating set-up format, green and full of special meetings.

An important new entry of this year, the "New Materials for a Smart City" exhibition-event that will give visitors an overview on material frontiers of innovation for the creation of smart cities, the intelligent city. At the entrance of Superstudio Più, in the Art Square, is the 3M installation by Particia Urquiola Studio, on the importance to protect memories for the future through the union of architecture, design and the magic of materials.

LAST TECHNOLOGY AND INTERACTIVITY

Seeing, understanding, interacting. Making the visit at Superdesign a direct experience not to be forgotten.

• Dassault Systèmes presents the “studio of the future” cutting-edge solutions for creative design and interior design, can be used to sketch product ideas directly on 3D on a tablet and visualize them right away with photo-realistic rendering in an immersive, interactive virtual environment.

• Gore-Tex will make use of virtual reality to communicate the use and comfort of the material.

• IBM tells us about artificial intelligence and presents Watson the famous robot, with a human-like appearance hosted in the Material Village area, prototype of the humanoids of tomorrow.

SMALL CREATIVE COMPANIES GROW

Examined by the artistic board, the chosen SELECTED OBJECTS represent single responses to requests of new design. Such as the urban landscape of Hong Kong seen through the metaphor of a window by Ponti Design Studio; the unexpected lightness of marble with creations by Stefano Pasotti and Dario Martinelli from StoneLab Design; Daard reinvents the suitcase for modern times and budbrand our everyday life by mobilizing things that ordinarily we would never conceive of carrying around or that are fundamentally too big to move.

Moreover, Delirious Eyewear brings its unique no-brand glasses inspired to a design made of just simple lines and minimal art; Haberdashery celebrates the beauty of colors hidden within our perception of white light with the “Canopy” chandelier and many more innovative Italian and International brands such as Henzel Studio from Sweden, styleGREEN from Germany, NuAns by Trinity from Japan, LIAA Latvian Design from Latvia, Zalaba Design from Switzerland, Keydi by Cappa Arredamenti and the MARCA project promoted and supported by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin in collaboration with the Foreign Centre for Internationalization, the (s)composition play by Castellani.it, personalised bags full of accessories by Dampaì, sneakers by Beyond, the “Diamonds&Flames” fireplace by Spartherm, the supercolor “Chiavarina” chairs by F.lli Levaggi and prototypes of interfaces based on smartphones, by Digital Habits, the art of interior design by D.AArte and the plaid made of pure cashmere in over 30 colours by Masserano Cashmere.

DISCOVERING NEW AUTHORS AND THEIR STORIES

It all starts from the awareness that the web is the new hub collecting every kind of creatives and many of them with a strong potential. Who are they? What do they think? Where do they live and how to get to know them? The response of Superstudio comes with an online invitation to participate to DISCOVERING PEOPLE&STORIES collective exhibition where with just one significant project they can present themselves on the international design scene with direct contact with the operators. One of the top names of design like Alessandro Guerriero, protagonist of the revolution of Alchimia, offers its little-men sculptures in reinforcing steel as “presenters” of each object. Discovering will benefit from special visibility on eBay, e-commerce partner.

ART MEETS DESIGN WITH THREE ARTISTS OF LIFE-STYLE

In accordance with this year's theme TIME TO COLOR!, the solo exhibitions of three artist-designers each one standing out in a specific sector for originality and substance of their hand made creations.

• Alessandro Ciffo creates splendours with silicon often used instead of traditional materials, highly coloured objects and furniture, but also transparent and delicate one like Murano glasses.

• Letizia Marino creates phantasmagorical colour splash surfaces with hand spread acrylic and resins, so as to create unique tables and surfaces of strong pictorial impact.

• Daniela Gerini ranges from habitat to fashion expressing her passion for colour and art in skilful brush-strokes on fabrics, in asymmetric shapes for furniture and in unexpected mixes for her lamps.

But also:
• Special guest Dejana Kabiljo, artist who works in the field of design, with a show on the great theme of beauty and how her different perception can influence of the quality of life.
