In the 20th century, new materials and manufacturing techniques contributed to the birth of the modern sofa, a comfortable domestic focal point that responded to growing social informality. The 21st century has seen the role of the sofa becoming increasingly important for rest and relaxation in private and public spaces, as a retreat from the pace of contemporary life.

Edra’s Sherazade sofa is an ideal solution to the ever-increasing desire for comfort and informality within interior spaces from living rooms to lobbies. It’s a vis à vis day bed – a simple, modular rectangular platform that is soft and inviting, padded in Gellyfoam® and synthetic wadding. This base is accompanied by a series of supports: two triangular Thai back cushions, two large square pillows, and two armrests, one rectangular and one cylinder.

Performing as a social oasis of comfort, Sherazade is inspired by traditional eastern cultures of the Middle East and Asia and crafted with modern materials and contemporary manufacturing technology. Its simplicity and clean lines, combined with an abstract and interactive composition, mean that it is socially open-ended and timeless – ideal for architects and designers of large scale residential, hospitality, workspace and cultural environments, as well as being conveniently suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings.
