Hotel Central Plaza

Central 1, a blend of restaurant and piano bar, is the highlight at the Central Plaza Hotel in Zurich. The restaurant was extended in a comprehensive remodelling project. Flowing transitions and a sense of openness dominate in the new space.

The interior concept provides a fascinating link between the original architecture, dating back to when the hotel was built in 1883, and the contemporary expectations placed on a leading restaurant. This was achieved through a combination of tactile and aesthetic realms of colours and materials. Strict geometric structures like the black and white parquet flooring are presented in contrast with organic shapes such as the round bar, which is made of brass.

Design classics are coupled with upscale industrial design. Velour fabrics, emerald green as the signature colour and a coherent lighting concept create a sense of comfort coupled with the perfect amount of hip flair.

All in all, the ideal ambience for the eclectic designs of the Wittmann Hayon Workshop collection, which are famed for the way that they work alongside Josef Hoffmann’s creations – as is proven beyond doubt yet again at Central 1.
