No wonder that in the construction of the new business headquarters named "HELIX," no wishes are left unfulfilled, as POST Luxembourg ranks among the most significant employers in the country: The "HELIX" offers space for around 850 employees and impresses not only with modern workplaces, but also with inviting communal areas and a friendly atrium. An open room design, short distances and generous areas for communication and collaboration reflect the organisational structure. The furnishings were specifically designed to meet the requirements of the employees and the company's activities in order to create a productive working environment. Numerous green spaces complement the extraordinary architecture.

Central Spiral Staircase as Highlight and Name Giver

The eye-catcher of the building is the 30 m high spiral staircase, which gives the building its name "HELIX". This staircase leads from the atrium to all eight floors and thus connects all areas. Due to its unusual shape, it first had to be made in a studio before it was integrated into the building during the structural work. The word "HELIX" also characterises the open and inclusive corporate culture at POST Luxembourg – it retains the same meaning in many languages and thus stands for the more than 50 nationalities of the POST workforce.

New Benchmarks in Interior Fit-out

The highest standards were also set for the interior fit-out. This applied equally to the Lindner Group, for whom the project was the largest order in Luxembourg to date: In the flooring trade, Lindner made a significant contribution to the modern interiors with the installation of the FLOOR and more® and FLOOR and more® comfort hollow floor systems as well as the NORTEC raised floor system. The latter was complemented by a highly comfortable carpet covering. Various partition systems contribute to the attractive room separation, including the Lindner Logic 100 Timber partition wall with durable lacquer finish as well as versatile glass elements such as the Lindner Life Freeze 137 and Lindner Life Pure 620. In addition to the aesthetic aspect, fire protection was also taken into account – the Lindner Life Stereo 125 fire-resistant glazing meets the requirements of class EI 60.

Sustainability in Focus

As a zero-energy building, the "HELIX" sets a milestone for a sustainable image change of the district. The new building was cleverly integrated into a listed building complex from the 1950s, whereby the historic façade was preserved and is a reminder of the location's past. At the same time, the building is aiming for a DGNB Platinum award: For this, air conditioning through active tiles, rainwater recovery, automated light management and natural materials were used. Instead of conventional air conditioners and boilers, an environmentally friendly ice bin and a heat recovery system ensure pleasant temperatures. Solar panels, rainwater collectors and energy-efficient high-performance glazing are also part of the sustainability concept.
