With the construction of the new company building and bath house the goal of the extension and modernization of the camping site was reached. In the future it should be possible to operate the campsite all year round. Ogna is the plural of Ogn, the Rhaeto-Romanic word for alder. The protected meadow landscape with the typical alder forest along the banks of the Vorderrhein is an incredibly beautiful backdrop for recreation and activity in nature. Legend has it that the alder is often associated with wonder and magic. It often stands for evil, is the sign of threatening, remote, dark moors, where it has ideal conditions for its growth.

The new main building with its strong silhouette is the symbol of protection and shelter in the alder forest. The veranda in front is the meeting place. The driveway and the main entrance serve as a central meeting point, where one expects the arriving, says goodbye or meets for dinner.

The room of the restaurant with the large vertical depth of the building is characterised by the three-part trusses opening upwards. They react equally to tensile and compressive forces and form a rigid transition from the wall to the roof. This static structure goes hand in hand with the typological characteristics and enables the large openings to face the evening sun. The building was prefabricated as a prefabricated element in the nearby carpentry shop in Trun. Furthermore, care was taken to ensure that local wood could be used.

The bath house wrestles with the typology of the courtyard some space from the adjoining forest and creates a secluded and intimate atmosphere inside. Four individual volumes are arranged like windmills under a flat roof. The open structure is closed to the outside by the slight elevation of the raised ground floor. The simple wooden element construction is unheated and closed in winter.

With the enclosed exterior spaces the identity of the campsite changes; there is now a strong sign of the public and with the square, the right of way a physically tangible centre, a memorable image with a strong recognition value. The faith and will for Camping Trun represents an important investment in the future for the whole community. Text Source: www.prixlignum.ch
