Concetto
Bower is Goodrum’s first collection for the commercial market that includes a workpod, armchair, meeting lounge and a range of adjustable acoustic screens. With ‘Bower’ Goodrum sought to break away from the rigidity often associated with office and breakout furniture. Inspired by the rambling-style nests created by the bowerbird, the ‘Bower’ range is open, organic and gentle, bringing a natural and calm aesthetic to workplaces. The vertical woven elements of ‘Bower’ appear to be growing like vines. The architecture of this design also controls acoustics as the undulating shapes catch and absorb noise. Adjustable acoustic screens can be added to the armchair and meeting lounge, creating high back versions with added privacy. Entirely modular, the ‘Bower’ range is designed for ease of assembling on-site in work places, taking into account weight restrictions and lift dimensions.

Australia
Adam Goodrum completed a degree in industrial design at the University of Technology, Sydney, in 1993 and won the Sydney Morning Herald Young Designer of the Year Award in 1997. Since returning to Australia, from over two years in London, he has established himself as one of the rising stars of Australian product design. Goodrum has an impressive folio of works, ranging from an innovative, mass-produced plastic peg, to complex high-end furniture. Most of the designs are developed to highly resolved, functioning prototypes. Winning another prize, the 2004 Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award, enabled him to exhibit at the Milan International Furniture Fair in 2005. Having attended the Fair before as a visitor, Goodrum was well prepared to achieve successful outcomes and is currently having products developed by leading European manufacturers such as Cappellini and Whiteflax.
