Concetto
Diagonal is an innovative combination of sofa elements and space dividers for public indoor spaces that is intended for large groups and private conversations.
Diagonal was designed to meet the needs of changing working environments, which demand more flexible furniture. Laptops, wireless networks and mobile phones have liberated us from our desks, and our days typically consist of brief informal meetings and short appointments. Diagonal provides a comfortable and peaceful environment for these very purposes.
Diagonal consists of five sofa elements and two screens. What sets Diagonal apart is its ‘worktop’, which is set slightly above the level of the rest of the sofa and which is intended for laptops or notebooks.
Although there are only few elements, they can be combined in almost endless ways. By combining several of the elements, Diagonal becomes a relaxed setting for small meetings, a private corner for important phone calls or a stylish lobby layout for customers waiting for an appointment. The smaller elements are ideal for corridors, and other areas where a limited amount of space is available.

o4i design studio was founded in 2005 by MFA Senior De- sign Partners Henrik Kjellberg and Jon Lindström, who first met while studying at Konstfack University College of Arts Craft and Design in Stockholm, Sweden 1996. Over the coming years the duo collaborated in various furniture projects and their intensified collabo- ration urged them to ultimately set up their own design studio: o4i (Short for: office for ideas). “We have a multidisciplinary approach to product design based on modern industrial parameters in the context of responsible mass production. We are driven by a curiosity for new technology, be- haviours, materials and processes and find as much joy in exploring the possibilities of improvement within given strict limitations as we do in seeking the solutions that challenge what’s expected. We believe in observation, conversation and collaboration. We believe 1 + 1 = 3.”
