Le parasol excentrique doit être orienté vers le soleil pour que sa surface relativement modeste offre un résultat aussi efficace qu’un parasol de plus grande taille. D’où son nom. Avec son port étalé et en forme de parasol, l’acacia d’Afrique est un arbre qui s’est adapté afin de capter un maximum de soleil avec une voûte feuillue aussi réduite que possible. De même, ce nouveau parasol Extremis capte lui aussi un maximum de soleil avec une surface textile limitée. Une de ses particularités est qu’il ne se replie pas : la toile s’enlève et se range simplement, et il ne reste alors qu’une structure nue qui fait penser aux branches de l’arbre africain dont il tient son nom. Après le coucher du soleil, l’éclairage intégré sous la toile crée une ambiance chaleureuse. Le module LED intégré et rechargeable est quant à lui inspiré du principe de la lampe de poche.
