Emily Wall
Architonic ID: 20024361
Anno di Lancio: 2019
Emily is made of sheet steel due to its solidity and the beautiful aging qualities. The shades are formed, welded, sanded and spray painted by hand in a complex process which turned out to be the best way to create those natural, organic shapes. The shades are covered with matte plexiglass for a beautiful, diffuse light distribution no matter which bulb is being used.
L x W x H: 32 x 24 x 30cm
(12,5 x 9,5 x 12 in.)
Concetto
The organic but classy aesthetics of Daniel Becker’s Emily lamps were inspired by a series of photographs of islands in the Pacific Ocean by German artist Andreas Gursky. The shape of those is quite heterogenic, however all of them form a family which is connected through their organic, in a way pyramidal shape. The idea was to lift these islands out of the ocean, creating lampshades that seemingly float in space. Hanging on the same height they create the vague impression of a mountain landscape that loses touch to the ground.
