Combining aesthetic design with a high level of practical function is a fine art that has been perfected by up-and-coming furniture brand Yomei, outshining its German rivals.

As soon as you see Yomei furniture, you will immediately notice something special: fine contours, high quality materials, precise workmanship and intelligent designs that are often only revealed on second glance. Enjoy variety in design

At imm 2010 in Cologne, Yomei will be launching its latest strategic concept. Starting from January, selected individual pieces from the exclusive Yomei collection will be available in many high quality design versions: high gloss and matt lacquered finishes each available in the colours snow white, pearl white, black magic, graphite, bordeaux, taupe, mocca and sand. Matt finished oak veneers with visible wood grains are available in the colours pearl white, black magic, graphite and mocca. Further alternatives include natural oak, dark-fine oak, macassar and walnut veneers or high quality leather in snow white, black, chocolate, graphite and bordeaux. Elaborating on the idea behind his strategy, André Schelbach explains, “Our collection is comprised of individual pieces that can be combined with existing furnishings. With an extended repertoire of material and colour options, we’ve got all types of modern living covered.”

Drive - the transformable coffee table

Drive is the name for the new transformable coffee table which redefines living room functionality. The developmental starting point was the search for a way for a family to sit comfortably on the sofa, play games, work or eat. “How often do we find ourselves eating a pizza while watching television? While the dining room or the open-plan kitchen has replaced the living room for sitting and entertaining guests, within the family or as a couple more comfort is often desired.”

To provide a safe and handy space in the living room for plates, glasses, games, books or other work-related items, Yomei has developed a coffee table which can be altered in three different ways. The height can be adjusted between 45 and 56 cm thanks to a pneumatic spring and the surface area can be moved horizontally 30 cm in any direction so that corner sitting is also comfortable. The base and leg of the table remain in one place.
