Clerkenwell Design Week came back bigger than ever in 2022. With more showrooms, exhibitions and installations, festival visitors found out what the industry’s been up to while they’ve been away.

Synonymous with sustainability, the floor manufacturer INTERFACE has established its new German headquarters and showroom according to the principles of Biophilic Design.

Die Gestaltung von Arbeitsumgebungen wird zunehmend beeinflusst von der instinktiven menschlichen Liebe zur Natur, die wissenschaftlich als Biophilie bezeichnet wird. Die Natur soll mit Hilfe von Tageslicht, Grünpflanzen oder natürlich anmutenden Böden in den Innenraum geholt werden. Mitarbeiter in Büros, die diese Elemente integrieren, fühlen sich nachweislich wohler und arbeiten produktiver. Human Nature, die neue Kollektion von Interface, beruht auf der Biophilie und ist inspiriert davon, wie die Natur Böden gestaltet.

The new modular collection of Interface is evocative of the waves of the oceans. For the design, Interface worked exclusively with the world famous designer David Oakey. Consciously breaking through previous design boundaries, and reaching a new level of social and environmental sustainability, makes the new collection particularly special. Something more: Net Effect contains 100 percent recycled yarn – partially derived from discarded fishing nets. By doing so, it unifies sustainability and beauty in a unique manner. It ties in with the newest sustainability project Net-Works: collecting fishing nets from the Philippines and integrating them into the carpet tiles’ production.

The working environment changes and with it interior designs do so, too. It is more than ever essential to create environments, where employees feel comfortable. Apart from a good payment and an interesting perspective it is the working environment playing a vibrant role in the „war for talents“. Ro
