Smart Conference: Humanscale’s essential ingredient to happy hybrid-ing

Smart Conference is an office chair that wants you to feel at home. More precisely, it is an evolution of Humanscale’s Smart Chair, itself an adaptation of the iconic task chair designs that legendary designer Niels Diffrient brought to Humanscale two decades ago. Diffrient famously put people first in his design process and started the dream of custom comfort in the workplace.

Perfectly personalised seating

Inspiring the details of the Smart Conference design, however, is a set of very current human considerations. Work culture today sees few people holding onto their seating for the duration of their tenure. Chairs are for sharing and need to flex to fit multiple users. To this end, Smart Conference incorporates Humanscale’s Form-Sensing Technology and weight-compensating recline so that personalisation is automatic. ‘Functionality is at the core of good design,’ says Sergio Silva, Director of Design and Innovation at Humanscale. ‘Smart Conference is a seamless seating experience tailored to accommodate a wide range of body types.’

Bringing home comfort to work

Underscoring the need for supreme comfort are hybrid working conditions. Today we require parity between the home and office recline, not least when in the same meeting there are those at home with their feet up off-camera and others maintaining decorum in the boardroom. Helping to level the field is the addition of Kvadrat upholstery to the Smart Conference design. Kvadrat textiles come in myriad shades, textures and tactilities which serve to blur the boundaries. ‘Whether in a traditional office setting, a boardroom, a breakout area, or at home, Smart Conference is meticulously crafted to align with the demands of modern workplace culture,’ affirms Silva.
