Hungary, a land located in the middle of Europe that has more thermal water springs than any other country on the continent. A country that’s landlocked, yet still deserves the nickname „Land of waters” and possesses the largest biologically active thermal lake in the world.

The Hungarian Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai, presented a tribute to water, our most important and precious natural resource. Visitors could learn about the long journey of thermal water, measured in millions of years, through interactive installations and spectacular images. Considerate focus has been paid to the local bathing culture, its aesthetic, recreational, therapeutic and social aspects or balneology.

One of the basic themes of the exhibition was „water without water”. Through interactive tools that appeal to both the senses and the emotions, the unique richness and excitement of the thermal and curative waters has been brought to life.
Product application:

At the request of KRAFTWERK, we have created a special abstraction for the Expo 2020 Dubai Hungarian pavilion. Called Aqua Roots of Hungary, the pavilion presents the unique richness of Hungary’s therapeutic and thermal waters.

Reflecting on the thermal water theme we have designed and manufactured a 108-piece chandelier composition made from the therapeutic mud of lake Hévíz, that is originally a plant sediment being tens of thousands of years old.

Mud-therapy and mud-treatment are therapeutically certified treatments. The form of each chandelier component has been inspired by the chemical elements found in the therapeutic mud.

In addition to the visual aspect, it has been an equally important part of the concept that the chandelier collection should also possess contextual values. The sourcing material is closely related to the place that intends to present. Therefore as a very unique approach we have created Viaplant material from therapeutic mud, the very same material that the exhibition intended to present in the given subject.
