Areco produces structural steel products. It is a modern company in a traditional industry and their headquarters in Malmö breed both creativity and innovation. Ideas has completely renovated their old industrial facility. The house boasts a new black metal facade and the entrance has been glassed up completely, allowing for fantastic natural light to flood the space.

In the office a generous amount of steel and metal has been incorporated to anchor the company’s profile. On a wall in the dining room is a giant text that reads “It’s All About Steel”, a reminder of the company’s origin. A photo illusion in the kitchen shows a gigantic steel beam that hurls itself through the air. An 11 meter long reception desk is a prominent feature that dominates the space, de-emphasizing the property’s relatively low ceilings.

Areco's owner, Peter Areskog, loves rock music. This is why a large picture of Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) has been incorporated in the office. The industrial concrete floor is a key feature of the space, which is furnished with small round tables and a large bar that creates an appreciated meeting space. The lounge between the dining area and the reception features black and orange leather chairs. The bold chairs are the accent pieces in the space, the colors of which inspire thoughts of glowing, heated steel.

The renovation of Areco’s property has greatly improved both design and functionality. The office space gives a professional and playful impression at once, with individual offices separated by glass walls, lending an open and transparent impression. Consisting of two stories, the office space features a staircase that is something out of the ordinary. It has been set and constructed in place and is colored black. The black staircase railing incorporates unique lighting which gives both guiding light and a nice aesthetic touch.

The finishing touch at Areco’s headquarters is Peter Areskogs office. Within is found a stunning custom desk constructed completely out of stainless steel with matching storage solutions. The conference table is from Mooi and is surrounded by plush leather chairs by Infiniti. Offering a sense of unity to the set is the soft Ege rug that covers the floor beneath it all.

In addition to the boss’s office, the upper floor also boasts several smaller offices, meeting rooms, and an open conference area complete with bat chairs. On the walls, arranged in a fantastic constellation, are several classic string shelves adorned with colorful old steam engines. The thought is to showcase a brand that is both playful and strong at once. The intent behind the design is to engender a sense of pride among the workers, and to inspire outside of the box thinking and innovation.
