Something from everyone. Our residential project perfectly reflects the personality of the owner: he is brave, extravagant, and not afraid of new combinations or long parties. An exotic veneer is mixing with perforated metal. Where you would be looking for an office, there is a DJ counter. There is only a minimum of walls here, which allows easy move and dance through space. This apartment is unrestrained - and that's what the owner wanted. He runs an international company, travels a lot, and likes the atmosphere of design hotels. Even at home, he wants to feel like he's on vacation. Travel goes hand in hand with the freedom that space was initially lacking. We decided to change the previous layout. We got rid of the excess partitions and opened it. The individual zones and purposes are seamlessly connected, and the rooms are divided only by sliding glass doors. However, even these can be slid into built-in cabinets and can disappear completely. Cerimonia de TRAC - Tresoldi Academy | Installations https://www.architonic.com/en/project/trac-tresoldi-academy-cerimonia/20164424 Wed, 02 Dec 2020 23:00:00 +0100 Cerimonia is the first site-specific installation realized by TRAC - Tresoldi Academy, the school created in collaboration between STUDIO STUDIO STUDIO, the interdisciplinary lab founded by Edoardo Tresoldi to create and support contemporary art projects and YAC – Young Architects Competitions, an architecture academy that trains young designers by allowing them to work with the world's foremost architecture studios. The installation, realized in the area home to the former Mercatone Uno store in Bologna, is promoted and supported by Urban Up | Unipol, with the scientific collaboration of G124 - the group created at the behest of Senator Renzo Piano to conduct constant, ongoing research on the subject of peripheral areas - and the extraordinary consultation of Stefano Mancuso, Italian botanist and essayist, director of the International Laboratory of Plant Neurobiology. Muse, Riverside House de SpaceInvader | Office buildings https://www.architonic.com/en/project/spaceinvader-muse-riverside-house/20164423 Wed, 02 Dec 2020 23:00:00 +0100 A workplace scheme for national urban regenerator Muse Developments at Riverside House in Salford has just been announced the winner of the Fit Out of Workplace category at the BCO Northern Awards 2020. The 540 sq m scheme was designed by Manchester and Leeds-based interiors practice SpaceInvader, for whom this constitutes a third BCO Northern Awards title in the space of three years, having been double winners in 2018 for Hilson Moran in the Innovation category and Number One Kirkstall Forge in the Commercial Workplace category. Riverside House, built in the 1860s, is a Grade II-listed building, adjacent to the old railway goods yard at New Bailey in Salford and located directly alongside the River Irwell. The building was locally listed but had stood in ruins for a number of years, before being acquired by the English Cities Fund for re-development. The main building structure was heavily damaged and the decision was taken by the fund to retain and repair the existing brick façad… continue

Brewpub in Colares de SER-ra | Restaurants https://www.architonic.com/en/project/ser-ra-brewpub-in-colares/20164071 Tue, 01 Dec 2020 23:00:00 +0100 This project aimed at the transformation of the Old Colares Tram Station in Sintra into a craft beer factory and bar. Given the importance of pre-existence regarding the history and landscape, the proposal promoted only the necessary changes for the better functioning of the interior space, articulating the public and technical path in a more functional way. The exterior of the building has not changed. The building was divided into two distinct parts: the tram garage, accessible from an outside gate, and the workers' area, divided into rooms, offices and toilets. Due to its easy access from outside and its size, the proposal converts the old garage into the brewing area. The length of the space and its high ceilings gradually allow more and larger machines to be added without any space being required. The former waiting room, office and dispatch area are joined together, making it a unique space where beer lovers are welcomed. The production area and the bar are connected by continue

It was a sad and a empty place turned into a large light space and dynamically fitted, as a space for children should be. In the first contact with the building, it was found a place too wanton in terms of space distribution. Despite the client's request for an open space concept, the intention was to create a sense of exploration as one walked through space, as though it were a labyrinth, like a game for a kid. Hence the implementation of the wire mesh, which creates a physical but not visual barrier, thus fulfilling the client's premises. In addition to the area devoted to displaying and storing the items, the ground floor includes an office and a small storage room. When accessing the upper floor, there is a studio for product photography. This division was subdivided into two spaces with a glazing system, which were designed to expand space. The materials used have been selected in such a way that their use is unique, wit… continue

Four Pillars Laboratory de YSG Studio | Bar interiors https://www.architonic.com/en/project/ysg-studio-four-pillars-laboratory/20163983 Tue, 01 Dec 2020 23:00:00 +0100 The overarching brief was not to replicate a gin distillery, but rather, create a thriving gin emporium devoid of pretence, bringing patrons closer to the distilled essence of the award-winning Australian Four Pillars’ spirit. Referencing its production HQ in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, the industrial-leaning Sydney outpost needed to accommodate a street-side retail store (selling an extensive range of house gins amongst other merchandise), a gin lab upstairs (to pique curious minds via master classes and tastings) and an experiential bar with a discreet ‘speakeasy’ entrance. What emerged was a robust yet tactile sanctuary referencing native Australian elements in the form of crafted timbers and Four Pillars’ star ingredient, the juniper berry. Its vivacious blue tone is also associated with the company’s branding assets, as are the copper references and the signature four dots floating amongst the spaces for a subliminally powerful impact. Helfštýn Castle Palace Reconstruction de atelier-r | Museums https://www.architonic.com/en/project/atelier-r-helfstyn-castle-palace-reconstruction/20163398 Sun, 29 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 <b>Cultural Heritage</b> Rising high above the Moravian Gate valley, Helfštýn Castle is the second largest complex in the Czech Republic right after Prague Castle. Helfštýn was established in the 14th century. In 2014 the Renaissance palace ruins had to close down due to the severe safety hazards such as falling masonry and remains degradation. The primary requirement of the castle owner; Olomouc Region, was to renovate the palace along with the construction of a new roof. The National Heritage Institute insisted on the preservation of the building in the state of a ruin. The roof was allowed only partially, and it could only go as high as the level of the peripheral walls. The project planning was rather unique. The 3D model based on thousands of photographs from a drone allowed us to map all the types of plaster and masonry modifications.  <b>New Concept</b> We aspired to go beyond the technical reconstruction assignment. Five de Qarta Architektura | Infrastructure buildings https://www.architonic.com/en/project/qarta-architektura-five/20162554 Wed, 25 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 „History meets future,“ declares the fitting motto chosen for the project Five, located in Prague 5 – Smíchov. A tram depot building occupied the project site, but that could have been called a relic even when it was built. While forming an important endpoint in the city transport system, complicated access had been its disadvantage right from the beginning. The depot building still looked almost exactly like when it was closed, years later when current renovations began. Previously it had proved too difficult to adapt for a new use, so it remained in a sort of permanent provisional state. It became impossible to keep the original curious technical program. The necessary connection to the city’s tram network was lost and the place no longer had any physical contact with it. What was missing here was a naturally smooth gradient in the urbanisation level, starting with the fully industrialized and ending with the predominantly residential city blocks. The result is an elegant living space, grounded in Kraków’s sophisticated past, but realized through the vision of the city’s most youthful generation of designers. Gallatin High School de CTA | Cushing Terrell | Schools https://www.architonic.com/en/project/cta-cushing-terrell-gallatin-high-school/20162423 Tue, 24 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 When developing concepts for the new 1,500-student Gallatin High School in Bozeman, Montana, the design team and the building committee gravitated toward a layout inspired by a town center. The Town Center concept represents a place where people come together for a variety of purposes—a focal point for meetings, commerce, social interaction, and other public events — all aligned with building a unified, interactive community. Much like in a city or town, the design team envisioned the school's Town Center as a dynamic, shared space at the heart of the school. It represents the convergence of learning “streets,” the primary social arteries linking the school together, which are widened to offer collaborative breakout spaces. The Town Center is surrounded by important community functions such as the administration offices (“town hall”), library, art gallery, student store, gymnasium, auditorium, and the ever popular food court. Guculska Apartment de replus design bureau | Living space https://www.architonic.com/en/project/replus-design-bureau-guculska-apartment/20162129 Mon, 23 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 Guculska apartment is a project by the Replus bureau that rethinks traditional Hutsulian ethnic style within neo-renaissance Austrian environment. The project was about refurbishing and redesigning an old apartment in a historical building in the heart of Lviv on Hutsulska Street. The building itself was constructed in 1892-1896, so our project designers decided to keep everything that survived in a good condition from those times. Keeping authentic parts and adding some new ethnic elements created a sense of time, highlighting the modern aspects of this space. From the very beginning we were limited by extremely narrow and long rooms, therefore our major goal was to create a sense of extra space by means of mirrors and right furniture positioning. The apartment was in a sorry state, hence the cracked ceilings in the kitchen and in the living room had to be removed. Above those ceilings we discovered old wooden beams that we kept. Villa in Perchtoldsdorf de Jan Proksa | Detached houses https://www.architonic.com/en/project/jan-proksa-villa-in-perchtoldsdorf/20161889 Sun, 22 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 Imagining a villa, one pictures a sprawling complex of buildings and land, echoing dynastic opulence. For this villa commission in a quiet village outside of Vienna, Austria, I was challenged with maximizing the volume of a difficult and narrow plot of land in order to create a modern living space for a two-generation family. The first impression of the construction is of a container as a living space. However, the eye is soon drawn to the discrepancies between the use of ninety degree angles and a slightly deviating complementary angle. The friction between the two angles, used both in the wall structure and the floor plan, can be felt as movement throughout the entire structure. From the intimate entrance to the large open plan living space, this interaction between the perpendicular and the oblique defines a certain perception that pervades the experience of the structure. The outlines and the façade of the new house are reminiscent of the unique and traditional craftwork of Viennes… continue

BOND is designed through the interplay of intersecting elements coming together to shape planefields for gathering and recreation on all levels- a junction that unifies elements traveling in all directions. This work of lines frames the lush surrounding and forms no obstacle to the eye that is free for gazing. One approaches the building head on and right onto the pool area which forms the dominating main axis of the house, splitting the living room into two living spaces. Together with the pool area they form the main gathering level. The slab is seemingly hovering about these spaces and has large openings above the pool area that provide views from the roof terrace back onto the pool. The curtain wall facade of the living rooms show very little visual barrier to the outside and hold a collection of remarkable furniture pieces, the sculptural kitchen and dining table. Spice & Barley de Enter Projects Asia | Restaurant interiors https://www.architonic.com/en/project/enter-projects-asia-spice-amp-barley/20161723 Sun, 22 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 In March 2020, just as the trap door closed on the country, Enter Projects Asia completed the design installation for Spice & Barley at Riverside in Bangkok. Minor International were clear on their brief : to introduce innovation and eco-awareness, giving the new brand a local context - to an International design standard. The initial concept centered around the adventures of three sisters, May, Zaza & Fei who were born in Sichuan decades earlier. As they explored the story in more depth, a design narrative was formed, connecting the past & present in a complex web of free flowing, statuesque rattan structures, as intoxicating as the characters themselves. In their signature style, fusing 3D digital technology with traditional arts & crafts, the Enter Projects team sought to incorporate natural, renewable rattan into the 30-metre-high space. By generating free-flowing liquid geometries, to mimic beer as it’s poured into a glass, the design aesthetic gives a strong nod to Spice & Ba… continue

Minimalist interior design involves using bare essentials to create a simple and uncluttered space. It’s crucial to maintain a balance between clean minimalism and a certain level of cozy atmosphere. “Our main focus at FILD is to be a lighting brand. On rare occasions, we develop and execute interior design projects provided we share a common vision, taste and overall aesthetic with a potential client, who will later most certainly become our friend.” – says Dan, FILD founder, creative director. This well-balanced environment was created for a married couple. The apartment offers clean and welcoming spaces that consist of the main living area adjacent to the kitchen, two studies/home offices, a bathroom with two entry ways, and a master bedroom with an open closet. Structurally, there were absolutely no opportunities for the reconfiguration of the space because all the walls in the apartment are… continue

RM House de Pedro Miguel Santos | Detached houses https://www.architonic.com/en/project/pedro-miguel-santos-rm-house/20161259 Tue, 17 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 A house of dichotomies: A single-storey house that confronts 3-storey surroundings; A main facade facing North and a very busy street; Owners who receive friends regularly, but who need silence in their children's bedrooms; A spacious house, but at a reduced cost. The project started from these premises and from the outside to the inside. Blind volumes of different dimensions seek to make a transition of scale to the surrounding buildings, and at the same time to create a dynamic facade, which due to the fact that it is oriented to the North and to a very busy street is characterized by the almost total absence of openings. The house is organized in a U-shaped plan, thus creating an exterior patio towards which the bedrooms are oriented, in order to remain protected and away from the internal social areas, as well as the surrounding buildings. The living room is oriented to southwest to obtain natural light until the end of the day and views of the large garden in the backyard. F… continue

It will be the strong relation of this space with the mentioned garden, which presents itself as the project's generating idea, bringing the garden to the interior of the restaurant, implying a total permeability of the spaces, interior and exterior, emphasizing the spaciousness and brightness that define the space. The restaurant is characterized as an interior garden, an integral part of the exterior, mirroring the same symbolism and balance, with the presence of vegetation that flows through the ceilings, in line with the various moments of artificial lighting with scenic effect, and the acoustic panels that, in addition to their primary function, assume the carp form: symbol continue

We renovated the inside of the house with respect for the old structure. We put emphasis on real materials, good craftsmanship and beautiful details. The highlights include the beautiful herringbone parquet, the bronzed metal handrails in the stairwell, the high-quality carpentry work and the thick natural stone plate in the kitchen, in combination with the color concept. Later on, the architects at the Replus bureau decided to go further and present a visual plan for the total renovation of the factory with the time frame of ten to twenty years. Firstly, they completed the part of the project involving the new entrance group and the adjacent territory including parking lots and public transport stops. It was done without any expensive solutions, everything needed to be simple and functional, modern and comfortable. Sestet de Hugo Kohno Architect Associates | Apartment blocks https://www.architonic.com/en/project/hugo-kohno-architect-associates-sestet/20160800 Sun, 15 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 This row-house-style apartment building in a high-density residential neighborhood is designed around the theme of spatial rhyming. The challenge was to create six three-story units that give residents the freedom to live as they choose, with a sense of both individuality and belonging, yet also maintain a consistent tone throughout the building—in other words, to flexibly adapt to a wide range of design conditions. The site has an elevation drop on its southern side, which enabled a stepped design for the roof and unit interiors that blocks visibility where needed and brings natural light and ventilation into the residences. Through a composite design that is horizontally sectioned and vertically layered, we succeeded in achieving both a unified overall look with pronounced shadows and a set of six distinctive units. An important part of these routes is made through paths that have markedly rural characteristics, with high walls of the old farms and by the fountains and old community washing tanks. Our intervention is located in one of these routes, more specifically in the route that goes from Golgota to Massarelos, comprising points such as the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, the «Casa da Agustina Bessa-Luís» and other bourgeois houses and workers houses. It was thus decided to take advantage of the juxtaposition of two different times, apparent in the original architecture present on the facade and that of a new interior that is admittedly contemporary, establishing a different dialogue between these two moments, expressive both inside and outside. In terms of façade, this dialogue is evidenced by the hidden placement of the new single-glazed frames which, when drawn back to the interior face of the wall, produce deep, contemporary spans, but which underline the great thickness of the original walls. On the posterior façade, the language is admittedly contemporary, consisting of large glazing that underline the visual relationship with the garden patio. Layered with intense geologic history at the base of a three-million-year-old volcano, the site is a north-facing 20-degree slope with equal parts refuge and prospect at 6,300 feet above mean sea level. Consisting of volcanic sediment from ancient flows and strewn with boulders up to 15 feet in diameter, the site is in an open stand of second-growth Jeffrey pine and white fir trees. The vertical, plumb lines of the tree trunks, stripped bare from years of deep snow fall, reach for the light. Standing upright at an angle to the slope, they provide a constant reference to the perpendicular horizon in the distance. The harsh winters leave the ground sparse yet partially covered with a mat of pine needles and cones. The centre of the concept is an arts depot nestled smoothly into a lush greenery on top of a residential building facing an inner courtyard. The starting point for the design has been to convert the conventionally built existing space into the arts depot and amplify its connection with the surroundings through the use of materials. By exploring the conflict between openness and enclosure, the architects have developed a design strategy that blurs the traditional boundaries between inside and outside. A minimalist cubicle in a striking, vivid flame red colour has been placed as a shelter for the paintings. The Splash Lab wanted to create something unique that resonated with their passion for design, experience and exploration. They were, however, open minded as to how this intent might be communicated as a work of architecture. The space needed to showcase The Splash Lab’s products, but it was equally important to create a space that echoed with the brands principals – an emphasis on high quality and inventive design, the importance of materiality, and how these can positively contribute to the consumer experience and enhance the brand value. Basmanny apt de Blockstudio | Living space https://www.architonic.com/en/project/blockstudio-basmanny-apt/20159361 Sun, 08 Nov 2020 23:00:00 +0100 This apartment is happily situated in a quiet area of downtown Moscow. Its windows look out on Moscow’s winding old streets reminding the clients of a Paris flat they had once lived in and the ambience of which they wanted to recreate in their own space. However, the apartment is part of a newly built block, with its modern architecture not lending itself easily to an implementation of stylistic elements of a Parisian flat. Given all this, the Blockstudio architects proposed an interior design that would not be a direct reference to its location, but made use of diverse textures and materials and their juxtaposition that is so typical of a Parisian flat.  The parquet of old oak is made to the architects’ design. Small aperture downlights are used sparingly to quietly increase both illumination and uniformity. Special surfaces are accented to complete the composition. Perimeter daylight harvesting is embraced while highly luminous and graphically assertive coves and strong accents bring visual interest. High contrast ratios and balance is achieved between the interior and exterior views, even during “white-out” daytime weather conditions. The TWIST - Kistefos Museum - glas staircase de Siller Treppen | Manufacturer references https://www.architonic.com/en/project/siller-treppen-the-twist-kistefos-museum-glas-staircase/20159172 Mon, 09 Nov 2020 00:00:00 +0100 The new Kistefos Museum is located in the scenic Kistefos Sculpture Park established in late 90s – today home to works by internationally renowned contemporary artists including Anish Kapoor, Olafur Eliasson, Fernando Bottero and Elmgreen & Dragset. The museum site is situated by the river Randselva in Jevnaker, just an hour north of Oslo. Built around a historical paper mill, the sculpture park occupies both embankments of the river, with an old bridge serving as the only crossing.BIG’s proposal is conceived as a simple beam that spans the Randselva to connect the two edges of the site, becoming a second bridge for the Sculpture Park. A simple twist in the building’s volume allows the bridge to lift from the lower forested area towards the south, up to the hillside area in the north. This creates a series of interconnected spaces: a vertical stack of galleries for media, paintings, and sculpture to the south – and a horizontal, open gallery, ideal for sculptures and large installation… continue

As approaching the project, the designers hoped to convey the subtle relationship between water and soil based on the natural laws of interdependence and Yin-Yang. Meanwhile, they intended to create various spatial scenes by utilizing paint of different textures, and construct a series of artistic spaces with smooth circulations to attract visitors to explore, reflect, and encounter with surprises. A harmonious integration of water and soil. Entering the space along a long slope, visitors will first see the wall surface clad in Danilo's white polished paint, which brightens up the whole passage and creates a modern serene atmosphere. It takes people away from the outside world for a while and leads to a journey of art. In the artistic hall, the floor shows the patterns of Yin and Yang. The part of Yin is embodied by a pool in a concave shape. Beside it, t… continue

SBM – healthy lighting without ceiling installation de LUCTRA | Manufacturer references https://www.architonic.com/en/project/luctra-sbm-healthy-lighting-without-ceiling-installation/20159045 Fri, 06 Nov 2020 00:00:00 +0100 SBM develops and produces care and protection products for agriculture, plants and home use. The French family company was founded in 1994 and is now represented in 31 countries in Europe, North America and North Africa. All company activities are designed with protecting the environment and natural resources in mind. In 2018, the company moved into a new administrative building near Lyon. No ceiling lighting had been planned for the interior. The big challenge was therefore to find lighting which does not require additional light from the ceiling and which meets all the requirements for good and healthy room lighting. An online search for potential lighting suppliers led to VITAWORK®. What set LUCTRA® VITAWORK® apart were the design, the product features (especially the imitation of daylight) and the price. The decision-makers had to choose between three suppliers who were almost equal in terms of price-performance ratio, but LUCTRA® stood out with its attractive package of individu… continue

Five years have passed, and the owner of the restaurant Juan Cruz Pacin was forced to move his successful business to a new address, in Myslíkova Street, near a unique functionalist building - the Mánes Gallery. The architects from the Formafatal studio again worked up the concept and in the historic building belonging to the UNESCO monument zone, where the pub was operated for years, followed the original concept of Gran Fierro and added new approaches. “The effort to use in maximum the original equipment and furniture somehow set the direction, used materials and colours of interior. A house that will allow the combination of work and living, next to each other but at the same time separated, had to meet many demands. Its high right bank is covered with green hills, while its lower left bank is a meadow which is now home to an equestrian club. The vicinity of the river and the topography of the plot had a major impact on the complex layout. All the main buildings are placed on the elevated plateau, whereas the low-lying areas which are prone to flooding are transformed into paddocks. The complex is located not far from the ring road. The traffic noise is managed with the help of the apple orchard and the volume of the covered riding hall. Three “digits” of the stables abut on the riding hall. Close to downtown, the area is noted for its dynamic mix of commercial, manufacturing, and residential uses. Reflecting the eclectic vibrancy and gritty nature of the neighborhood, the 10,041-square-foot CMU and steel-framed building houses a beer hall, an office, a maker space, a studio, and a small caretaker’s apartment. Riffing on the idea of shifting uses and planes, the design takes its visual cue from a sliding tile puzzle, also known as a klotski, where the object is to rearrange tiles to solve the puzzle. The puzzle is expressed on the south-facing exterior of the building through the use of 7’x10’ perforated metal screens. The screens slide up and down, enabling users to change the screens position for sun shading and privacy, and in response to seasonal variations in daylight. The orographic characteristics of the port make Port d’Aro Sailing Club a unique attraction forming a pedestrian promenade along a whole perimeter stretch covering around two miles. This narrow perimeter belt has to be shared by pedestrians and motorised vehicles; therefore, the spaces designated for each use have been clearly defined by aligning the lighting and furniture, guaranteeing the port conveys a meticulous image by day and by night. Sihinjuku is always a city with an image of artificial chaos, but also with a nostalgic 80’s atmosphere, and a human-like feeling. We came upon the idea creating a store that can merge this kind of Shinjuku atmosphere, with the opposite natural and generous feeling the Aesop brand has. Cold but warm, new but nostalgic. A place that functions as a new retreat in such city. We chose stainless steel with a mirror finish for the main material. Chipped plaster walls finished with a rough expression, combined with a glorious artificial volume of stainless steel will be applied to create a shop space that is distinct to Shinjuku but also reflects the Aesop brand through its design. Taking into consideration that the company shifted from sitting in cubicles to sitting in a semi open-space, this created the perfect basis to the concept. We researched the term "neighborhood" in terms of space, and in terms of the local population. We asked questions such as "what is eating in a neighborhood?" "what is it like working in a neighborhood?" "what is it like socializing in a neighborhood?" and etc. in addition, the client gave us a brief which spoke the love and appreciation for recycled, re-used, local materials. The answers to these questions and requests were the first blossoms to the initial plan layout, design concept, materials and colors, and even the fine details of the graphic language, carpentry and furniture. The task was to create a place where wine would be produced, sold and tasted, and at the same time, there would be feasts, events and accommodation for guests. Such an ambitious program forced us to make use of every centimeter of all levels of the townhouse, its courtyard, and the cellars adjoining the Znojmo underground. <b>Winebar</b> Five years ago, the reconstruction began with a small wine bar. The space under a pair of cross vaults is naturally divided into two parts. At the entrance, there is a seating area for guests, with a distinctive chandelier in the shape of a cross and a long bench. The second part is dominated by a work desk/bar and a smart wine rack. If the smells are pleasant, we can call them scents. These perceptions can be acquired through olfactory receptors. Combining several specific scents creates the scent of a home. From an early age, Greta has associated the scent of a home with the scent of caramelised sugar and fruit juices which was permeated with the smell of freshly watered flowers in the conservatory, where fruit cakes were also served. Last but not least, the scent of home included the musty smell of old paper guidebooks from perhaps the whole world. These quietly laid in the library in the living room for decades as reminders of the journeys of young parents to states that no longer exist today. Klára opened the window and let the morning breezy air into the bedroom. She gets up like this every morning and she enjoys their house, which is no longer newly renovated. Marsotto Milan Showroom de nendo | Shops https://www.architonic.com/en/project/nendo-marsotto-milan-showroom/20157054 Thu, 22 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 A showroom in Milan’s Brera district for the marble manufacturer Marsotto. Replete with ground and basement levels, it exhibits marble furniture, sundries, and samples of processed materials. In the entrance space on the first floor, a mesh-like partition made of marble covers the stair case in front. It consists of two layers of marble 10 mm thick with 65 mm wide dots perforation, sandwiched between glass sheets. With only 10 mm of width remaining, the partition’s tempered transparency and lightness reduces oppressiveness of the marble constitution, softly drawing visitors to the basement exhibition space. While the ground level allows for the physical experience of superior marble processing techniques, the basement by contrast is spatially structured for visitors to enjoy the allure of marble itself. The basement space is divided into 4 rooms, provided with 5 stages of varying size. In consideration of the purpose of flexibly accommodating various exhibition layouts as well a… continue

LE SUD SUITE de In Out Studio | Hotel interiors https://www.architonic.com/en/project/in-out-studio-le-sud-suite/20157013 Wed, 21 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 Going back to the roots in a frame of contemporaneity is the interior design manifesto of a new and surprising suite concept designed by In Out Studio. LE SUD SUITE is born from a very personal reflection of Nayra Iglesias, director of the studio, about the current situation we are living in: "Mother Earth is warning us that we have to change the way we live and, consequently, we have to redirect the way we design". This space is the combination of sustainability and modernity, a small but complete demonstration that there is another way of designing, of generating a dialogue between two worlds that seem to be opposed, such as ecology and technology. A visual and formal language used to solve the comfort and luxury needs of a hotel suite and that has been created from the contraposition of materials with a terracotta colour base, closely linked to the African roots of the studio. The materialization of this spectacular space is possible thanks to Tattoo, a contract company… continue

Weybridge House de Inkiostro Bianco | Manufacturer references https://www.architonic.com/en/project/inkiostro-bianco-weybridge-house/20156986 Fri, 23 Oct 2020 00:00:00 +0200 A full renovation and interior design project tailored to very specific needs, in which the Inkiostro Bianco wallpapers are perfectly included with style. This beautiful house was built around 1900 and is of Victorian origin. It used to form part of a 6000 sq ft property, in the style of a typical old English manor, with the kitchen and servants’ quarters to the rear of the property. The owner initially bought the property off-plan from a developer and once it was completed, she fell in love with it, so she decided to make it her own home. She then decided to do a full remodel of the home, which included alterations to the layout and full make-over which included a new kitchen and bathrooms. Her wish list included: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a sauna, a treatment and massage room, a meditation space and a great kitchen, as she loves preparing food. Because the customer is very health conscious (both body and mind), in touch with nature and all about positive energy, the design was… continue

These are the essential ingredients that laid the foundations of the new hospitality concept by Architect Alessandra Vaccari for the Fifty House Soho Hotel. An informal and cozy look based on the concept of a metropolitan living, where the guest can feel comfortable from the hall to the rooms on the upper floors. The furnishing elements of the hall are armchairs with soft and stuffed velvet, big libraries filled with travel books, wallpapers and big carpets. All these elements are characterised by the three colours that feature the whole project: powder pink colour, blue and red, in stronger tones in the hall and softer shades in the rooms. Sports Hall de THINK FORWARD | Office facilities https://www.architonic.com/en/project/think-forward-sports-hall/20156693 Mon, 19 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 The project is part of a long-term strategic renovation of St. St. Cyril and Methodius public primary school in Sveti Vlas, Bulgaria, called Think Education Forward. After four implemented projects within 5 years the existing sports hall was renovated in 2020 following the design logic and aesthetics of the prior renovations. The scope of the project includes the school gym and the adjacent foyer. The spaces are separated thematically and design-wise. The foyer colour palette is a logical continuation of the school hallway design. It provides area for quiet mind sports such as chess and backgammon, and for self-educating via the "sports benefits" wall. Conceptually, the design approach interprеts sports elements such as sports symbols /the metal mesh cabinet/, sports equipment /the ergonomic balance ball chairs/, and the running tracks, marking the path to the gym entrance. Designed by South African architects SAOTA, Kingsway Tower is 15 storeys high. It has a basement, a two-level retail podium, a parking podium and 12 office floor levels. Not only does the design of Kingsway Tower introduce new architectural ideas to Lagos – the economic centre of Nigeria and one of the fastest growing cities in the world – but it is also uncompromisingly world-class in its quality and execution, reflecting the importance of this emerging market in a global context. Located in Ikoyi, a prestigious residential neighbourhood, Alfred Rewane Road and its surrounds have been rezoned to create a mixed-use corridor, resulting in a boom in office and hotel developments. 313 Block’s Apartment de Odyndoodnoho | Living space https://www.architonic.com/en/project/odyndoodnoho-313-blocks-apartment/20156300 Sun, 18 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 We would like to start right away with the name of the apartment - "313 Block`s". The main focus here is on ceramic blocks «Porotherm» 44. Its size is 440x248x238mm. This building material is used in the construction of external walls of buildings. One of the characteristics is that it has ribs on both sides. During construction, the blocks are stacked with these edges to fit each other. In our case, the blocks are laid the other way around - with the edges outward. This was done to give the walls a dynamic appearance. They resemble an accordion. When you walk along them, your fingers slide along the edges of the blocks. Their surface is varnished, so it is pleasant to touch. As for the number, there are exactly 313 pieces. When these blocks were chosen as the architectural basis of the apartment, it became clear that the appearance of the apartment would be quite brutal. To further emphasize the importance of this material, we have used it as the main wall material. It forms… continue

Pied-à-Mer de MICHAEL K CHEN ARCHITECTURE MKCA | Living space https://www.architonic.com/en/project/michael-k-chen-architecture-mkca-pied-a-mer/20156045 Wed, 14 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 Michael K. Chen Architecture (MKCA) has completed the interior architecture and design of a 600-square-foot luxury apartment aboard a residential yacht. Drawing on Le Corbusier’s interest in streamlined, mid-20th century steamship design and MKCA’s own expertise in creating compact, multifunctional spaces in contemporary urban environments, the apartment is simultaneously adaptable, efficient, and strikingly elegant. Playfully dubbed by MKCA as a pied-à-mer, the residence serves as a holiday home for a couple and their grown children, transforming seamlessly from a spacious one-bedroom to a two-bedroom apartment through tables and beds that fold away and unfurl as necessary. As a jumping off point for the project, MKCA looked to modernist architecture’s fascination with nautical design, which optimized for small-scale living, modular organization, and efficiency. In particular, Le Corbusier’s belief that a home should be regarded as a “machine for living,” as well as his fascination… continue

Co-working, shareness and networking have long shaped our working world. With the increased importance of networking, the canteen has taken on a new quality as a place of exchange and meeting in everyday office life. To brainstorm and spark creative ideas in a relaxed atmosphere is just as important as enjoyment of a good lunch – and this symbiosis embodies the priorities of a far-sighted corporate health management system. The Viessmann Group wanted to offer its employees this kind of space: Hence the construction of a new restaurant in their main factory in Allendorf, which covers an area of around 2,400 square metres. Aritco HomeLift installed in four story villa outside Stockholm, Sweden de Aritco Lift | Manufacturer references https://www.architonic.com/en/project/aritco-lift-aritco-homelift-installed-in-four-story-villa-outside-stockholm-sweden/20155664 Publication date unavailable. We always say that our home lifts are about more than creating the best accessibility in a home. A beautiful home lift is a design feature that enhances the value of the home – and can even help make life more worthwhile. In a four-story villa in Sollentuna, a town just outside Stockholm one of Sweden’s best-known home architects, Pål Ross, integrated an Aritco HomeLift into the design of a dream house that the client calls “Villa Ultimate.” Pål is known for homes with curved shapes, high-end materials, and lots of glass. He believes in the value of lifts so much that he suggests including a place for a lift in all his villa projects. <b>MAKING LIFE MORE WORTHWHILE</b> “In our design process, my overall intention is to create a living environment that makes like more worthwhile,” Pål says. “It’s also that the customer should be happy for the rest of his life in that environment,” he says. “So, I take into consideration the day when they may not be able to run up and down those be… continue

Fitnesspark Stadelhofen de Ushi Tamborriello | Office facilities https://www.architonic.com/en/project/ushi-tamborriello-fitnesspark-stadelhofen/20155650 Tue, 13 Oct 2020 23:00:00 +0200 A lot has already happened on this piece of earth in Seefeld in Zurich. Only a few steps away we find the last traces of one of the oldest pile dwelling cultures in the Opernplatz parking garage. The name of the street on which the GMZ`s newest fitness park is located, the Hufgasse, is reminiscent of the more recent past. He refers to the riding school, which had settled in this place in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century for a longer period of time. With the electric tram and the expansion of the urban infrastructure, this "public riding school for women and men" was ousted and in 1928 it went bankrupt. In the post-war period of the late 1940s, today's building was built at Hufgasse 10, in the dynamic heart of the city. For a long time it was used by various businesses, especially as a car garage for Th. Willy AG with one of the largest lifts in the past days: you could comfortably drive the car into the elevator on the ground floor and let the car roll into continue

This cultural architectural project explores the connection of conceptual and formal expressions of these specific time periods into space. Thus creating a prototype of a new type of apartment in order to connect atmosphere and activities in the habitat space. The main design concept of P- FLAT is to connect the new constructed walls with the already existing wooden floors, giving the impression that the space is created by folding an immense piece of wood. The P-FLAT is a project designed and conceptualized by the architects Ben Gitai and Charly Crochu from Gitai Architects. The flat is located in the 16th district of Paris, France in an Haussmnaian building. This Project is entailing a complete renovation of a family apartment in an existing space which was redesigned for quality and comfort. In order to create an environment in which children can play freely, we proposed consolidating their private road into the site. While maintaining the function as an approach for vehicles on the ground, we could put nursery rooms above the road, thereby securing space for a large, open-air play area in the center of low -story building. This architecture opens east for a great view of the magnificent mountains. With interconnected circulation routes weaving together interior and exterior spaces, the building itself is like a giant play structure incorporating a slide, a climbing wall, and staircases of various sizes. And an undulating concrete wall pierced by numerous holes wraps around the building, enhancing security and privacy. In addition to this sturdy reinforced concrete, materials include wooden wainscotting inside a… continue

Endless greenery surrounds the site filling space between large karst towers of rock. With a landscape so grand any moves to dismiss it, let alone compete would make little sense. With this understanding it was decided that the natural elements themselves would form the premise for what architecture would inhabit the site, one element in particular, bamboo. The Impression Sanjie Liu is already well established, now in its 15th year of operation. The project presented a situation where most existing structures would remain untouched. Instead focus shifted to how introducing new intervention could support a pre-existing condition. At present, large clusters of bamboo cover most of the site, creating structures of mingling pipes and leaves. As a means to coincide with what is already there, the new architecture looked at borrowing the materiality of the bamboo, reconfiguring it to f… continue
